Alex Pettyfer Can’t Decide Between ‘Twilight’ Knock-Offs

Friday, January 28 by

With nary a film in theaters, Alex Pettyfer is already like sugar to the young adults. That’s why it comes as no surprise that he is up to his armpits in young adult movie franchises. Producers of The Mortal Instruments would love to have his stomach muscles in their adaptation and Screen Gems has put up a considerable amount of money to woo him, but it seems that Pettyfer has his eye on another YA franchise.

The Last Apprentice (The Wardstone Chronicles in the UK) is picking up a lot of heat. Oscar favorites Jeff Bridges and Jennifer Lawrence are circling, due in no small part to the visual inventiveness of director Sergey Bodrov. The film follows a teenager (with stomach muscles) as he trains to be an exorcist in the 1700′s. Pettyfer make perfect sense for the role because, as you may or may not know, all of the best exorcists are totally shredded and excel at walking in slow motion through floating embers. You can’t expect the Devil to take you seriously if you’ve got a weak core. (Vulture)

Is this even a serious article? First, the title is repulsive in that anyone with a functioning brain who took a moment to read the books or at least their summaries would know that The Mortal Instrument books are nothing like the books of the Twilight series. Just because one book with a love triangle and romance garnered a bad reputation doesn’t mean that other books about romance and supernatural events have to be knockoffs. Second, get over yourself and your weird love for saying “stomach muscles”. Third, Alex Pettyfer is a great actor and has more to offer than his abs. Seriously, why is this article even online?

I can see how someone whomdoesn’t really know what they are talking about could call The Mortal Instruments a Twilight rip-off, but The Last Apprentice? Traumatic brain injury must be a bitch.
