Movie Finally Being Made About Regular Girl Becoming Royalty!

 

Great news for the type of people that would never read Screen Junkies: A film is being made that contemplates exactly what would happen if a girl from the midwestern United States visited the UK and became a princess.

Sony Pictures paid seven figures for this pitch from the (500) Days of Summer writers that sounds an awful lot like The Princess Diaries. But I’m probably just being cynical. I’m sure these writers will find a completely new way to craft a montage of a girl walking around London with a comical amount of shopping bags set to a K.T. Tunstall song.

And if they aren’t able to find a new way, that’s ok too. Todays 12 year-old girls were only 2 when The Princess Diaries premiered, so those dumb kids probably don’t even know that this movie’s been made before.

The movie is untitled, so I would like to suggest The Princess Journals, or perhaps The Countess Diaries. Actually, in keeping with the scribes’ last project maybe The (Princess) Diaries? Doesn’t matter which. Everything I just suggested is awesome. (Deadline)
