Top 10 Worst Movie Scenes
Naming the top 10 worst movie scenes can be a harder task for some once you think about it. For every hit that Hollywood produces, there are usually about movies that are just too horrible to sit through. Or worse yet, a movie that should be good, but throws in a plot device so far out of left field that it just ruins the film entirely. These are just those scenes, so sit back and enjoy.
Superman vs Nuclear Man in “Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.” After the studio cut the budget for the third sequel in Christopher Reeve’s reign at the Man of Steel, there should have been a clue what was about to happen. It would be Reeve’s last attempt at playing the character and destroyed Mark Pillow’s (Nuclear Man) career. He never did another film.
From Anakin Skywalker to Darth Vader in “Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith.” The buildup to this transition went on for three films (and decades of speculation by fans), but when Skywalker finally met his match and surrendered to the dark side and into the most famous battle suit in film history, it was the biggest disappointment of them all. Some fans have never forgiven director George Lucas for one of the worst movie scenes in sci-fi history.
Nuking the fridge in “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”. Ever heard of the phrase “jumping the shark”? It’s a term to describe when a TV show strains credibility so much, that they lose the audience. Until this film, there was no corresponding term to describe when a movie does it. Havin Indiana Jones hide in a lead-lined refrigerator to escape a nuclear blast did just that for fans.
Elizabeth Berkley boning in “Showgirls.” It’s been said time and time again, but Elizabeth Berkley should never be allowed to do a sex scene in film again after this one. Imagine what it would look like if someone were to have sex with a mermaid while electrocuting them. And you’ll a good idea why this is one of the worst movie scenes in this incredibly bad film.
The end of “No Country for Old Men.” The worst scene in this movie is also the most puzzling. Film fans are still wondering what the hell happened here. The film just ends in the middle of a scene. No reason, no explanation. What’s more surprising is that it won Best Picture in 2008.
The end of “War of the Worlds.” Sadly directorial genius Steven Spielberg has two films on this list. The worst scene in this rather impressive movie is the last. After all of the terror and destruction the audience has seen, watching Tom Cruise’s character deliver his daughter back into the arms of his ex-wife, clean, disheveled-free family completely destroyed the film.
Everything involving Ewoks in “Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi”. George Lucas not only has two films on this list, but from the same film series. Fans are still wondering what Lucas was thinking adding a bunch of teddy bears to this movie, making their presence on of the worst scenes in the movie.
The end of “Return of the King”. This really is an excellent film, but put it on this list of worst movies scenes was its one-hour ending, which went way over the top explaining what happened to every single character after the main battle was over.
The return of Sean Connery in “Highlander II: The Quickening.” In what has to be one of the worst movie scenes in history, Conner McCloud (Christopher Lambert), who watched his mentor get beheaded in the first film, simply calls out his name and brings him back to life.
The death of Captain Kirk in “Star Trek: Generations.” Moviegoers really expected William Shatner’s last hoorah in the role that made him a legend to go better than this. Basically, to make room for a new cast in the films, they had him slip on a bridge and fall to his death. Very lame.
