Top 10 Famous Movie Duos

Monday, February 28 by Layla Sinclair

These top 10 famous movie duos are inseparable in the eyes of most film fans. The following characters are fellow partners in crime and best friends in a variety of movies. The pairs below include cops, teenagers, superheroes and even potheads.

  1. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Paul Newman and Robert Redford are the most famous of movie duos, appearing together in more than just one film. “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” is one of their best pairings. The two play cowboy bank robbers who flee to Mexico on an epic Western journey.
  2. Starsky and Hutch. These famous cops were created as a TV series, but became immortalized in film by Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller. The famous movie duo remains the height of cool as they walk the street fighting crime, winning ladies, and exchanging wise cracks.
  3. Blue Brothers. This pairing between John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd is classic and hilarious. One of the most famous of movie duos, the Blues Brothers stumble through one calamity after another, attracting plenty of famous musician cameos along the way.
  4. Bill and Ted. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter made their mark as two slacker high schoolers who journey back in time to complete a history report in “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.” The famous movie duo delivers some classic lines as they time travel and meet Genghis Khan, Abraham Lincoln, and Napoleon.
  5. Cheech and Chong. This famous movie duo played by Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong were two of the funniest film buddies of the 1980’s. The pair of stoners went on many adventures together in different comedy installments.
  6. Thelma and Louise. The only women on this list make quite an impression for being such close friends and tough women. The two flee their husbands for a cross country journey that tests the very limits of friendship and ends with a great finale.
  7. Han Solo and Chewbacca. One part of this movie duo never utters any actual lines, but the two are both well-known from the original “Star Wars” series. Han Solo plays an attractive rogue while Chewbacca is his lovable, almost dog-like companion.
  8. Batman and Robin. How can you mention movie duos and leave out this crime fighting pair? Unfortunately, the two have not been given great platforms to properly express their bromance; the last “Batman and Robin” movie was panned by critics. Hopefully, Chris Nolan can include the duo in his Batman series.
  9. Sam and Frodo. These hobbits from “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy prove their friendship by trekking out to the ends of Middle Earth together to destroy the Ring. The famous movie duo choose death over leaving each other’s side.
  10. Agent J and Agent K. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones play this famous movie duo from the film “Men in Black.” Smith plays a newbie agent out to battle evil aliens, while Jones is the veteran showing him the ropes. Their two differing personalities complement each other perfectly.
