Top 10 DVD Rentals Of 2008

There were many movies released in 2008 but few of them rank as the top DVD rentals of 2008. Only seven movies lasted more than one week atop the DVD rentals chart and only one movie lasted three weeks. These DVDs feature offer the best bang for your buck when renting a DVD for your next movie night.

  1. “The Game Plan”Dwayne Johnson stars in this Disney family comedy about a football player who finds out he has a daughter he never knew about. It is one of the top DVD rentals of 2008, holding the top spot in the nation for three weeks in a row. The DVD includes a unique “sports booth” commentary track.
  2. “Gone Baby Gone” - Ben Affleck directs this movie about a girl’s kidnapping which turns a community upside down. One of the top DVD rentals of 2008, the release includes a commentary track and a number of special features.
  3. “Beowulf” – The Robert Zemeckis film “Beowulf” was one of the top DVD rentals of 2008. The movie sat on the top of the DVD rental charts for two straight weeks and is loaded with special features on the director’s cut of the film.
  4. “I Am Legend” – The Will Smith apocalypse movie remained at the top of the rental charts for two weeks and is one of the top DVD rentals of 2008. The two-disc special edition includes an alternate version and a different deleted ending of the movie.
  5. “21” – “21” is the adaptation based on the MIT students who went into Vegas and used their brains to beat the system. One of the top DVD rentals of 2008, “21” sat on top of the rental charts for two weeks. The 2-disc DVD includes a commentary track and three features.
  6. “Nim’s Island” – “Nim’s Island” is the movie that knocked “21” off the top as one of the top DVD rentals of 2008. The movie tells of a girl who tries to find her missing father. It hit DVD with a number of special features including two commentary tracks.
  7. “Vantage Point” – While “Vantage Point” was not a big hit in theaters, it stood at the top of the DVD rental charts for two straight weeks, one of the top DVD rentals of 2008. The movie tells the story of an assassination attempt from the point of view of eight strangers.
  8. “What Happens in Vegas” – This movie was the top rated DVD rental of 2008 for two weeks. It tells the story of two individuals who get married in Vegas and then, when one of them hits a jackpot, can’ break the union. The DVD includes a director’s commentary and deleted scenes.
  9. “No Country for Old Men” – The Coen Brothers won their only Best Director Oscar for this movie about a serial killer in a small country town. One of the top DVD rentals of 2008, the DVD took over the top spot from “Beowulf."
  10. “Iron Man” – “Iron Man” was one of the top theatrical releases of 2008 and stood one week atop the top DVD rentals of 2008 spot. The two-disc special edition includes an entire second disc of special features including two featured documentaries.
