Need some ideas for things to do in Ohio? Whether your passion is food, sports, entertainment or history, the Buckeye State has something for you. Here are ten not-to-be-missed attractions in Ohio:

  1. Shawshank Redemption Trail Pick up a Drive-It-Yourself brochure in Mansfield and hit all the locations where the movie was filmed. The tour is self-guided and free, though there may be a charge to enter some of the sites. Get your brochure at Shawshank Redemption Trail: 124 N. Main St. Mansfield, OH 44902.
  2. Short North Walking Food Tour One of the best things to do in Ohio for people who like food. Who doesn't like food? Eat your way around historic Columbus for $45 a ticket. Short North Walking Food Tour: 59 Spruce St. Columbus, OH 43201.
  3. I-X Indoor Amusement Park In Cleveland with the family? Take the kids to the I-X Indoor Amusement Park for an afternoon of rides and games. General admission is $21. I-X Indoor Amusement Park: 6200 Riverside Dr. Cleveland, OH 44135.
  4. National Museum of the United States Air Force Want to learn about the history of military aircraft? Just outside Dayton, this museum should definitely be on your list of things to do in Ohio. National Museum of the United States Air Force: 1100 Spaatz St. Wright-Patterson AFB, OH 45433.
  5. Ohio Renaissance Festival The men all carry swords, the women all wear corsets and no one will look at you funny if you walk around with a whole turkey leg in one hand and a huge tankard of ale in the other. The festival is centrally located near Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus, and runs for several weekends each fall. Ohio Renaissance Festival: 10542 E. State Rte 73, Waynesville, OH 45068.
  6. Progressive Field While you're in Cleveland, see an Indians game at the ballpark. Not there during baseball season? The stadium hosts events year round. Progressive Field: 2401 Ontario St. Cleveland, OH 44115.
  7. Meier's Wine Cellars Every wine lover's itinerary of things to do in Ohio should include Cincinnati's 100-year-old winery. Admission is free! The wine, sadly, is not. Meier's Wine Cellars: 6955 Plainfield Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45236.
  8. Turtle Creek Valley Railway Take a one-hour train tour of southwestern Ohio. The railway offers mystery dinner tours and has special holiday-themed rides in the winter. Tickets are $9. Turtle Creek Valley Railway: 198 South Broadway, Lebanon, OH 45036.
  9. Surf Cincinnati Water Park Whether you're surfing alone or hanging out with the family, this water park has activities for you. Fun City next door offers miniature golf and bumper boats. Surf Cincinnati Water Park: 11460 Sebring Dr. Cincinnati, OH 45240.
  10. The Dude Ranch Anyone looking for things to do in Ohio has gotta visit this old cattle ranch and see what Ohio was all about before the modern world took over. Who knew the old west was still alive and kicking just outside Cincinnati? The Dude Ranch: 3205 Waynesville Rd. Morrow, OH 45152.
