Epic parties are like epic movies: they don't come around often, but they're memorable when they do. But combing the two elements-parties and cinema-is truly a recipe for excellence. Hollywood knows this, and that's why there's no shortage of parties in movies. But what parties are the best of the best? We've compiled seven of the most epic parties ever seen on film for your enjoyment. Just remember to pace yourself, okay? No one likes a sloppy partier!

"Animal House"

There is truly no better way to kick off a list of the most epic movie parties than with The Godfather of comedy party movies, "Animal House." Complete with sweet live music courtesy of Otis Day, the toga party had it all: drinking, debauchery, and destruction. There may be no better scene in movie history which better illustrates the fun a person can have with a bunch of people who all have the same loose morals.

"10 Things I Hate About You"

Bogey Lowenstein just wanted a quiet night with his fellow stuffed-shirt high school junior executives. When the doorbell rang, Bogey assumed "That must be Nigel with the brie!" Sadly for Bogey, there was no Nigel, and no brie. Instead, there was an armada of his high school classmates, all rowdy and ready for a good time. There was dancing, and even a concussion, courtesy of a low-hanging light fixture. It doesn't get more epic than brain trauma!

"Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring"

It's not every day that a hobbit turns 111 years old. A milestone such as this must be celebrated in the proper context. That means distant relatives from all around need to descend on your quiet Bag-End abode, and your old wizard buddy needs to show up with a spectacular display of fireworks as well. That's just what happens on Bilbo Baggins' eleventy-first birthday, but Bilbo himself saved the biggest surprise for the end; he disappeared, right in front of everyone!

"Old School"

This movie had so much of that old "Animal House" spirit, it was practically a spiritual successor. And just like "Animal House," there's more than one party to choose from when picking the most epic party scenes of all time. Sure, you could go with the first party, where Snoop Dogg makes a cameo and Will Ferrell decides to get butt-naked. But a later party, involving a kiddie pool and a bunch of lubricant, gets the nod. Why? Well, because a man partied so hard that he actually died. Now that's epic!

"Almost Famous"

Any movie about the golden years of rock and roll excess has to have an epic party or two, right? Cameron Crowe doesn't disappoint in his story about a young man covering an up-and-coming band for Rolling Stone magazine. Any party that ends with a guitar player, out of his mind on any number of substances, declaring that he is a "Golden God" before doing a cannonball off of a roof and into a pool has to be pretty epic, right? Trust us, it is.

"Dazed And Confused"

High school kids party in a very special way. Sure, college kids get pretty wild, but there's something about the unrestrained parties of high school that sticks out. No matter the reason, that kind of wild and crazy party was on display in "Dazed and Confused." After a planned party gets torpedoed courtesy of an ill-timed beer delivery, the kids regroup in time to put on a great kegger out be the "moon tower." There's fighting, romance, and all kinds of self-discovery, all which make for a very memorable and very epic party.

"Boogie Nights"

This is the party that starts the long, slow decline for all of the principal characters. As 1979 becomes 1980, everything is changing in the world of adult film. New relationships are forged, and old ones are suddenly made very complicated. All of this is set against a party full of bright colors, brighter personalities, and lots of sex and drugs. Most noteworthy of all is Little Bill's tragic end. He finally does something about his two-timing wife; he blows her, her lover, and himself away.
