Played by Seth Rogen and James Franco in Pineapple Express, Dale and Saul typify the buyer/dealer relationship: The dealer wants to chill and hang out, while the buyer just wants to get his weed and go home. At least until Dale becomes an accidental witness to a murder and is forced to go to his dealer for help. Then, they do what so few potheads actually do: Become action movie heroes.
Based on writer Hunter S. Thompson and his attorney Oscar, Raoul and the doc (as played by Johnny Depp and Benicio del Toro) are on all kinds of mind-altering substances throughout the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. By the time it’s over, the people watching might feel like they are, too. Depp and del Toro are both great actors, so it should be no surprise that they make one of the best drug-abusing duos in movie history.
The two Hollywood roommates in True Romance have pretty distinct lifestyles: Dick is a struggling actor, while Floyd is a non-struggling couch inhabitant. So, they only get one or two scenes together, but they’re so funny that it’s enough to qualify them as a great drug-using duo. Plus, Brad Pitt‘s Floyd served as part of the inspiration for Pineapple Express.
