Every year, the entertainment industry churns out hundreds of thousands of movies and television shows. These shows have all different types of actors; some you know, and some you’re seeing for the first time. However, if you started to name all the actors that you knew, you’d probably only be able to name a handful of the most famous ones, forgetting the other very talented actors. Here is our list of the six most underrated actors working today that will make you “ooh” and “ahh” in compliance.
Not really defined by just one role, Edward Norton is definitely one of the most underrated actors working today. He has been in numerous films like “American History X”, “The Incredible Hulk”, “The Painted Veil” and of course “Fight Club”. Norton has a knack for playing highly intelligent (although sometimes disturbed) characters. His acting is particularly showcased in "Fight Club" when we see him lose his mind and create havoc in the entire city. We just can’t seem to get enough of him.
Mazursky in “Alpha Dog”, but that’s only because he wowed us with his ridiculously realistic acting-it was kind of scary. But we cannot forget all the other television shows and movies like “Six Feet Under”, “Hostage” and “Get Over It” that show us how great and versatile of an actor he really is! He will scare you in one movie, then he'll make you want him as your boyfriend in the next. Give him some credit, people!
We fell in love in Eric Bana after watching him as a loving husband/time traveler in “The Time Traveler’s Wife”. Little did we know, that was not Bana’s first movie, nor his last. His masterpieces that really showcase his acting, making him worthy of this underrated actors list, include “Hulk”, “The Other Boleyn Girl” and more recently, “Hanna”. Watch any one of these movies, and you’ll see why we think he’s greatly underrated.
You might know him as the young, funny son from “3rd Rock from the Sun”, but to see why we think he’s one of the most underrated actors working today, you should take a look at him in any of these great movies, which show his serious side and true talent: “Inception”, “50/50”, “Hesher” and one of our favorite teen flicks, “10 Things I Hate About You”. He also shows what he's all about in "500 Days of Summer". Levitt's so loveable, you can't help but root for him the whole time!
Mark Ruffalo: he’s the guy you fall in love with after a two minute conversation. He’s a big, loving guy that plays just that in most of his movies. Don’t get us wrong-he’s also a very serious actor-but we just love to see Ruffalo when he’s playing the guy next door in movies like “13 Going on 30”, “Just Like Heaven” and “The Brother’s Bloom”. Seriously, it is time to give the guy some credit!
