When it's too hot to stay inside, here are 10 summer films to screen outdoors. Don't know which movies to start screening? The following list of recommended films have action, adventure and romance that everybody can enjoy.

  1. The "Indiana Jones" Trilogy. Starring Harrison Ford as the adventure-seeking archeologist who travels the world trying to protect priceless historical finds from evil, greedy people, any of the three films,directed by Stephen Spielberg are perfect to screen outside. They are not only classics but feature wholesome good old fashioned fun everyone can enjoy.

  2. "Jaws" (1975). This film, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Roy Schneider, Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfus, is perfect to screen outdoors. This film takes place in Amity Island where one summer the island's waters are plagued by a killer shark. If it is possible to screen it by a pool, even better.

  3. "Star Wars" Saga. This "space opera" created by George Lucas takes place in a galaxy far, far away, where one man named Darth Vader will stop at nothing for inter-galactic control. Who doesn't want to see the Millennium Falcon light speed across space outside on a large movie screen underneath the stars?

  4. "Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings" (2001). J.R.R. Tolkien's classic fantasy series tells the story of a powerful ring which must be protected by the one who possesses it, a hobbit named Frodo. If the ring falls into the wrong hands, Middle Earth will be in danger.  Brought to life by director Peter Jackson, this movie is a  beautiful spectacle that will whisk you away and make you forget about the heat with its dynamic characters and magical vision of Middle Earth.

  5. "Finding Nemo" (2003). When a clown fish named Marlin loses his son Nemo to Australian fishers, he must trek the entire ocean to try and rescue his son. This is another film that would be perfect to screen by a pool.

  6. "Up" (2009). When an elderly, grumpy man decides to go after his dreams, he ties balloons to his house to sail away to South America. Not only is it a Pixar film that is loved by children, it is especially loved by adults. The sequence where the house lifts into the air by the balloons would be a beautiful scene to see screened outside.

  7. "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" (2003). Starring Johnny Depp as the infamous "Captain Jack Sparrow," this blockbuster film franchise is full of adventure, romance and comedy. It is recommended to be be screened outdoors because of its exciting sword-fights and battle sequences that take place on the open sea.

  8. "The Mummy" (1999) and "The Mummy Returns" (2001). These films are directed by Stephen Sommers starring Rachel Weisz and Brendan Fraser. When an Egyptian priest falls in love with the pharaoh's mistress, they are sentenced to death. 2,000 years later, the priest is awakened once again and is intent on wreaking hell on the living in order to bring his lover back to life. These films exude the old romance of classic adventure films, which are perfect to watch in the heat of the summer.

  9. "The Birds" (1963). As soon as Melanie Daniels (played by Tippie Hedren) arrives in Bodega Bay, the birds begin to attack the local townspeople. This Alfred Hitchcock classic will probably have everybody running inside, but it would still be thrilling to screen it outside.

  10. "Gone With The Wind" (1939). Starring Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable, this film spans the history of the America Civil War while at the heart of it being a Southern Belle named Scarlett O'Hara and a Northern gentleman named Rhett Butler. This extravagant Technicolor classic is breathtaking to watch outside.
