“127 Hours” – James Franco stars as an adventurer in this movie from the Oscar nominations of 2010 who falls into a cave and finds his arm trapped behind a boulder. He remains trapped for 127 hours until he decides to cut off his own arm to save his life.

“Black Swan”Darren Aronofsky, the man who directed “The Wrestler,” delves into the world of ballet in a movie very similar to the professional wrestling feature. Natalie Portman stars as a ballerina who loses her grip on sanity as she competes in the high risk world of professional ballet.

“The Fighter” – Mark Wahlberg produces and stars in this Oscar nomination from 2010 as a true-life boxer who fights his way up the ranks despite his washed-up criminal brother dragging him down. Christian Bale won an Oscar for his role as the brother in this fantastic movie.

“Inception” – Christopher Nolan took a break from making Batman films to create this mind-twisting film starring Leonardo DiCaprio. This Oscar nomination from 2010 supposes that men can enter your dreams and steal your memories, and the movie is a caper inside people’s minds.

“The Kids Are All Right” – This is the independent Oscar nomination from 2010. Two children of lesbian parents want to learn who their sperm donor is. When they meet their biological father, it brings a splintering into the relationship of the close-knit family.

“The Social Network” – The life and times of the inventor of Facebook is detailed in this Oscar nomination from 2010, written by Aaron Sorkin. The movie won the Oscar for Best Screenplay, and Trent Rezner of Nine Inch Nails won an Oscar for the score for the movie.

“Toy Story 3” – This animated film from Pixar was one of the Oscar nominations from 2010, concluding the story of Andy’s toys. Andy is college age and needs to decide what to do with his beloved toys as he leaves home. It is a sad movie that is a perfect conclusion to the animated classics.

“True Grit” – The classic John Wayne western is remade by the Coen brothers, who received Oscar nominations in 2010 for the movie. Jeff Bridges stars in the John Wayne role but the movie is more about the young girl who hires him to find her parent’s murderer.

“Winter’s Bone”Jennifer Lawrence stars in this Oscar nomination from 2010 as a girl who learns her family will lose their home if she does not find her father, who skipped bail. The movie takes the young girl into the dangerous underbelly of country meth labs.
