Nobody’s Perfect: 5 Popular Movie Mistakes

Thursday, October 20 by Brenda Hoffman

Movie mistakes are actually quite easy to make. In fact, most movies have at least one mistake in them. Some of the mistakes that have been found in today’s popular films include:

Movie Mistakes Pirates of the Caribbean

In “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” there is a mistake that happens when Jack says, “On deck, you scabrous dogs!” Look to the very left edge of your TV screen. Just over Jack’s shoulder you will see a crewmember. He is wearing a tan cowboy hat, a white T-shirt and a pair of sunglasses. There is no reason for him to be in this scene but there he stands, just looking out across the sea.

Rocky Horror Picture Show Movie Mistakes” src=”” />

In “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” there is a mistake that happens as Eddie escapes from the deep freeze. He is wearing three rings on his left hand (one on his middle finger, one on his ring finger and one on his little finger). Watch the one on his little finger, as it tends to disappear in a lot of the shots. One example is when Eddie is playing the sax. Another example is when he lifts Columbia right before they start messing around on the floor.

<p style= Movie Mistakes Star Wars

In “Star Wars” there is a scene when Luke and Leia are just about to swing across the canyon inside the Death Star. Before they swing Leia shoots at the Storm Troopers one more time and just happens to hit the bulkhead that is located behind the Storm Trooper on the right, causing him to fall forward. However, the Storm Trooper on the left continues to fire at them.

Movie Mistakes Wizard of Oz

In “The Wizard of Oz” there is a scene in the beginning where Dorothy falls into the pigpen fence after walking across it. Bert Lahr picks her up out of the slop but take a good look at her dress. It is still nice and clean without a single spot on it.

Movie Mistakes Titanic

In “Titanic” Jack tells Rose about a lake that he went ice fishing on. This occurs during the scene where she is threatening to jump overboard. The lake's name is Lake Wissota, a manmade lake that is located near Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, where Jack grew up. However, this lake was only filled with water in 1918, six years after the Titanic had actually sank.
