New Moon Soundtrack List
The "New Moon" Soundtrack List is completely original and exclusive to the album. The "New Moon: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" album was released on October 16, 2009 by Patsavas' Chop Shop label, in conjunction with Atlantic Records. The album consisting of indie rock and alternative music debuted at number two on the "Billboard 200" albums chart, and climbed to number one a week later after selling 153,000 copies in its first full week of release. It made history as the first time ever a soundtrack and its sequel have both reached the #1 spot on the chart.
"Meet Me on the Equinox" by Death Cab for Cutie. In the movie, this song is featured as the 2nd song in the end credits. The Bassist, Nick Harmer provided a statement saying: "We wanted to capture that desperate feeling of endings and beginnings that so strongly affect the main characters."
"Friends" by Band of Skulls. This song sounds off when Bella rides a motorcycle with a stranger, trying to continue her visions of the long gone Edward.
"Hearing Damage" by Thom Yorke. When the villain, Victoria, escapes the wolf pack this song can be heard to enhance the mood of elusive entanglement.
"Possibility" by Lykke Li. During a very depressing moment, Bella sits and thinks while months go by. This song adds emotion to that waiting period Bella is in.
"A White Demon Love Song" by The Killers. Adding a sort of final ambiance to the love story, this is the 1st song that plays during the credits. It is one of the more often played songs on the New Moon Soundtrack List.
"Satellite Heart" by Anya Marina. During the movie, when Edward drives Bella home after her birthday party, the grip of emotions is in sort of a stalemate. “Satellite Heart” adds a perfect addition to that sort of suspended emotion.
"I Belong to You" [New Moon Remix] by Muse. After Edward is gone Bella and Jessica go to the movies to sort of carry on with life. During this moment “I Belong to You” plays and shows through music that Bella still belongs to Edward, even when he isn't there.
"Rosyln" by Bon Iver and St. Vincent. St. Vincent told MTV News of this song, which plays when Bella prints pictures in her room, "I think there's something vampirey and creepy about the two of us singing together. It's a simple, stripped-down kind of song. It's really elegant and beautiful."
"Done All Wrong" by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. When Jared and Embry take Bella to Emily's house, this song is almost ironically played to show that Bella's initiation to the wolf pack was done all wrong.
"Monsters" by Hurricane Bells. Played when Edward arrives at school, “Monsters” brings to head the hidden fact that vampires are just that, monsters.
"The Violet Hour" by Sea Wolf. Bella's birthday party is a significant turning point in the movie and “The Violet Hour” being played at so crucial a time is a perfect choice for the movie and the New Moon Soundtrack List.
"Shooting the Moon" by OK Go. Bella and Jacob spend time in his garage and this song plays on in the background. Listening to the words of the song, adds a perfect musical emotion to the tension that exists between Jacob and Bella.
"Slow Life" by Grizzly Bear featuring Victoria Legrand. This song on the New Moon Soundtrack List couldn't be more perfect for the time when Bella is underwater after she jumps off the cliff.
"No Sound But the Wind" by Editors. Edward drives Bella home from the Cullens' house after the vote and is truly a time when no sound but the wind can be heard during the feardul tension.
"New Moon (The Meadow)" by Alexandre Desplat. This instrumental song plays during the opening credits and is a perfect intro to such an emotional movie.
