Tweakers and meth heads are becoming more popular characters in film these days, as they are sadly becoming a more common thing in our everyday world. A meth epidemic has swept through America over the past few decades, wrecking much of a generation and leading to some truly horrific crimes and images of the poorer, rural parts of our country. That said, it makes for some frightening characters and great drama. Check out these top five films featuring meth.
"Salton Sea".
Kilmer, this movie features a lot of meth heads, especially Bobby, who is trying to kill all the bugs that crawl out of his own skin. This portrayal of a meth head will probably keep you from ever doing the drug yourself.
"SLC Punk".

An incredibly entertaining film that follows punks and junkies in Salt Lake City in the '80s, "SLC Punk" has a notable meth character in it named Sean. Sean does all types of drugs, but has a hilarious job interview on meth scene that goes very badly. This is a lighter depiction of the drug that destroys people's lives.
"Bug".
Friedkin, this story gets twisted, dark and brutal.

This Academy Award nominated independent tells the story of a young girl trying to find out what happened to her father in the poor, backwoods world of the Ozarks. While meth isn't paraded around as much as it is in other movies, the fact that people are doing it is entirely understood and a perfect subtext for the destruction of the characters.
"Requiem for a Dream".
Darren Aronofsky tells a number of stories of people whose lives are torn apart by drugs. Most shocking, however, is the story of the older woman who begins taking weight loss pills to try and be beautiful again. She is actually taking meth, of course, becomes hooked and ends up in a mental ward. Lesson: don't order pills from television or online.
