In 2011, Yauch wrote and directed the comedic short film Fight For Your Right (Revisited) to commemorate the video’s 25th anniversary. Directly following the events of the original video, Mike D, Ad-Rock, and MCA (played by Seth Rogen, Elijah Wood, and Danny McBride) drunkenly tear the town up until they are confronted by time-traveling future versions of themselves (played by Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, and Jack Black). A dance-off ensues.
Directed by MCA (with credit going to his Nathaniel Hornblower pseudonym) the video for Intergalactic uses the style of Japanese sentai shows and Kaiju films. It stars a giant break-dancing robot as it battles an octopus monster, decimating the city in the process. I’m not sure how this video wasn’t made sooner.
An inspired take on the concert film, 50 attendees were given video cameras to capture the performance. Yauch then took their footage and cut together the completely crowd-sourced Awesome: I F*ckin’ Shot That!. It’s a pretty cool way to make headlines and interact with the fans. Like Donald Glover, who can be seen as a concert-goer in the footage.
