7 Of Rick Santorum’s Least Favorite Films

I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry

Not due to the gay content or anything. This movie is just terrible. Even Rick Santorum would think so. Disagree with Santorum’s politics and social policies if you wish, but you must respect the man for campaigning on an anti-Kevin James platform the past two elections.

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

I posit that Santorum is ambivalent about this film. While he is probably not so keen on depictions of any gays anywhere ever, he probably likes the idea that they are all roaming the desert in Australia, keeping the streets of his Pennsylvania district football-loving and straight.

Too Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar

Initially turned off by any film that could feature a character named “Wong Foo,” Santorum decided to give it a shake because of his borderline-compulsive love of Patrick Swayze. In fact, even as recently as his 1994 Senate bid, Santorum was known to commonly pepper his campaign speeches and casual conversations with quotes from Road House such as “Pain don’t hurt,” and “Be nice until it’s time to not be nice.”

He stopped this after Priscilla hit theaters, and publicly denounced Swayze, though it has been reported that Santorum regularly finds his way to Swayze’s grave after nights out drinking, often leaving an offering of whatever he has on his person at the time, such as a copy of The American Spectator, or a doggie bag of chateaubriand from Smith and Wollensky’s steakhouse.
