Everyone loves porn stars. That's why they're called porn "stars" and not porn "pariahs," porn "lepers," or porn "disgusting outcasts." And with Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star out now on Blu-ray™ & DVD, you might want to brush up on your non-porn porn. Here are some good old fashioned entertainments that aren't porn, but feature plenty of porn stars, content related to porn, etc. - basically everything short of actual pornography. Enjoy!

Boogie Nights

PT Anderson's glorious epic about the world of 70s porn represents a bygone era in porn. This isn't about people anonymously grunting all over each other, this is about when porn had a plot, man. And those plots revolved around young people with giant penises, like Mark Wahlberg's Dirk Diggler. Watch it, and shed a single tear for the departure of the glory days or pornography. At least I hope that's a tear.

The Girlfriend Experience

Here's a movie that doesn't just have a cameo from a porn star, but a full-blown starring role from none other than America's Porn Star Sasha Grey. And she turns in a pretty good performance as an escort who specializes in "the girlfriend experience," which makes clients believe they have something other than a hooker on their hands. This shouldn't come as a surprise since director Steven Soderbergh has lots of experience working with non-professional actors. Which, hey, Grey's a professional actor, when you get down to it.

Zack and Miri Make A Porno

If you want to watch a movie about porn, consider doing an IMDb title search for "porn." One thing that will come up is this critically tolerated Kevin Smith comedy about two platonic friends (played by Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks) who decide to make a porno together. And thus the question is explored: Can best friends be on-camera hardcore sex friends?

The Girl Next Door

According to this movie, it's a common teenage fantasy to have a porn star move in next door to you. I would find that a little awkward, particularly if I were familiar with the young woman's work, but whatever. Anyway, Elisha Cuthbert is the porn star (ah, that has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?) so maybe there's something to this fantasy after all.

Body Double

You know what the works of Alfred Hitchcock could have used? Some pornography. Brian De Palma agreed, so he made Body Double, which takes the basic ingredients of a Hitchcock thriller (voyeurism, mysterious blonde, murder) and adds a dash of 80s porn. The most charming example: When Craig Wasson recognizes the woman of his dreams (like in Vertigo), he does it while watching her in a porno movie. Funny, right?

Orgazmo

Trey Parker and Matt Stone are known for riffing on porn on South Park, but they also made a feature-length comedy early in their careers about their two favorite subjects: Pornography and Mormonism. It's a funny movie, but don't fire it up if you want to see some actual porn. One of the running gags of the movie is that all potential porn star nudity is obscured by hairy male asses. Unless you're into hairy male asses, in which case, have your fun.
