Almost as confusing as time-travel is the idea of a “precognition,” where certain gifted people can see bits and pieces of the future before they happen. That, plus a classically twisty film noir plot, are the key ingredients of the futuristic chase thriller “Minority Report.” Luckily, you have Tom Cruise on hand to explain everything in the end, but unless you’re particularly sharp you’ll probably need another viewing or two to get everything straight.
Relationships are confusing enough, without a science fiction conceit thrown in. That conceit in this movie is that there exists a service to erase memories of an ex-girlfriend (Kate Winslet) or boyfriend after a painful breakup. The layers-upon-layers storytelling is mixed with emotions that will seem all too familiar (and powerful) to someone in the real world.
