If you are looking for something to watch, then here are the best 5 animation movies of 2008. Animated movies are always a huge hit during the holiday season. Both children and adults will love these amazing animated movies. Modern CGI and animation technologies deliver stunning vistas and lifelike characters. Plots and characterization are as impressive as they've ever been, and the top 2008 picks for animated movies are no exception.

  1. "Kung Fu Panda". Jack Black voices Po Panda, delivering an amazing performance as a lazy panda who longs to become a martial artist. Other celebrity voices include Jackie Chan, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, and Lucy Liu. The movie is fast and funny as the Furious Five (Monkey, Crane, Mantis, Tigress and Viper) compete to obtain the hero title of "Chosen One". "Kung Fu Panda" received an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature in 2009.
  2. "Madagascar 2". Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Sacha Baron Cohen, David Schwimmer, and Jada Pinkett Smith return as the voices of our escaped cast of zoo animals. In this surprisingly well done sequel, the refugees from the New York Zoo are back in action, this time leaving the island of Madagascar for the continent of Africa. Alex the Lion is reunited with his family, and the penguins and lemurs are up to their usual hilarious antics.
  3. "Horton Hears a Who!". Jim Carrey voices Horton the Elephant, who happens to–no real surprises here–hear a Who. This movie is a wonderful adaptation of Dr. Seuss' classic children's story. It is comparable in quality with original Seuss animations such as How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The CGI special effects are truly amazing, and the movie is packed full of hilarious scenes.  Steve Carrel, Seth Rogen, Carol Burnett, Amy Poehler, and Will Arnett are part of the celebrity voice cast.
  4. "WALL-E". Pixar's stellar track record of animated movies continues in 2008 with "WALL-E" which won at the Golden Globes, Oscars, and 2009 Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature. The first half hour of the movie is simply staggering in its scope as a lonely 700-year-old trash robot goes about his daily chores of cleaning up the garbage heaps mankind left behind with only a cockroach as a companion.  Children especially will adore this charming and optimistic tale of Earth's future and its message of hope.
  5. "Igor". "Igor" is a snarky satirical take on typical animated monster movies. It is fresh and original, and absolutely hilarious.  The film's hero is the hunchbacked Igor, assistant to the power-mad Dr. Glickenstein (John Cleese). With the help of a brain in a jar, and a zombie rabbit, Igor struggles to invent the ultimate monster and win the kingdom's Evil Science Fair.  The celebrity cast features John Cusack in the role of Igor, and the voices of Steve Buscemi, Sean Hayes, Molly Shannon and Jennifer Coolidge.
