“The Love Guru” Comedies are hit or miss. This movie was definitely a miss. The movie is about a guru (Mike Myers) who helps a troubled hockey player with his love life. Many people were worried that the movie would be offensive towards religion. The movie had the two big cinema killers, bad acting and a poor plot line.
“The Hottie & The Nottie” This movie stared Pairs Hilton and Christine Helen Lakin. The plot was simple and predictable with Larkin playing Hilton’s ugly duckling best friend who then gets a makeover and threatens to steal the affections of the guy that has a crush on Hilton. The movie was a total bomb and only grossed a little over a million.
“10,000 B.C.” Sometimes the hype before a movie can kill it. This was a much talked about film but the plot dragged on. There were a lot of amazing special effects but the movie was severely lacking authenticity, which will lose people right away in a period movie.
“Street Kings” This movie stars Keanu Reeves as a detective that is mourning the death of his wife. The movie centers around Reeves’ character cleaning up police corruption.
“What happens in Vegas” This movie is about a couple who drunkenly gets married in Vegas and wins millions of dollars. When the couple sobers up they hate each other but both want the money. The couple is played by Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz. To add to the predictable plot a judge orders to pair to live together.
“You Don’t Mess with the Zohan” Even if you’re a fan of Adam Sandler you might not like his performance as an Israeli special forces soldier who wants to be a hairstylist. The movie was going for that zany “so stupid that it’s funny” kind of humor but it ended up just being stupid.
“Mad Money” This chick flick boasted the top names of Diane Keaton, Katie Holmes and Queen Latifah. It seemed like a great love story but it ended up being a comedy without humor.
“Witless Protection” This is the third film starring Larry the Cable Guy. His other two movies “Larry The Cable Guy: Health Inspector” (2006) and “Delta Farce” (2007) weren’t all that good and mainly enjoyed by die-hard fans of The Cable Guy. In this movie Larry has to protect a witness who doesn’t want his protection, like in all his movies he makes a mess of things but in the end saves the day with some redneck-know-how.
“Untraceable” The idea of a movie about a serial killer who streams his murders online enticed the public but the film fell short. The details of the plot where so far-fetched it was more like something on a bad TV drama.
“Leatherheads” This looked like a good sports movie and came out at the height of the trend. It’s a comedy starring George Clooney about the early days of football. Many movie-goers felt the film simply wasn’t funny and a waste of Clooney’s acting talents.
