10 Most Sexual Movies
When compiling a list of the ten most sexual movies, one wants to continue past that number; or really just have an excuse to keep referencing sexual material. Sex in movies has been around since the beginning of film and isn’t likely to ever go away. That said, these films should wet the appetite for more. Enjoy:
“Lila Says” (2004). This French movie about the relationship between a teenage boy and girl is both provocative and thoughtfully engaging. It is also highly sexual. From tantalizing language to suggestive scenes and situations, there is no denying this is one of the ten most sexual movies ever made.
“Basic Instinct” (1992). This erotic thriller made Sharon Stone a household name. Known more for a quick flash of blonde hair between her legs than her acting, Stone stalks Michael Douglas throughout this sexually tense film.
“Looking For Mr. Goodbar” (1972). This movie is based on the novel of the same name and details the reckless promiscuity of the seventies. Diane turns in a star performance as the lonely schoolteacher who just wants a man to sleep with her at night. She’s so lonely, she even humps the hell out a pillow in one scene.
“Eyes Wide Shut” (1999). Master filmmaker Stanley Kubrick directs this highly sexual movie about the secrets a man and a wife discover about each other. Paring then married movie stars, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, the movie is subtle in its method and grand in its revelation.
“Sex, Lies, and Videotape” (1989). Steven Soderbergh’s debut film is slow burning examination of sexual psychology. Made at a time when personal camcorders were relatively new this movie is a great indictment of the voyeuristic tendencies inside everyone.
“She’s Gotta Have It” (1986). Director Spike Lee’s debut is a sexually-themed comedy about a woman who can’t get enough. Unable to choose between the three men she’s sleeping with, she ultimately ends up with neither. The sex scenes look artfully beautiful in black and white.
“Secretary” (2002). Office sex has never looked as a fun as it does in this comical play on sadomasochism. Full of spanking, biting, and other freaky fetishes, movies don’t get any more sexual than this. To his credit, James Spader appears in two films on this list. He also played the very tightly wound voyeur in Sex, Lies, and Videotape.
“Unfaithful” (2002). A cautionary tale about the hazards of infidelity, Diane Lane falls victim to her feelings in this sexually explosive film. Passionate sex abounds between Lane and her lover until she has second thoughts. The climax is as violent and the rest of the film is sexual.
“Brokeback Mountain” (2005). The boys really go at it in this romantic tale of love between a pair of ranchers. Granted, it turns convention on its head, but there’s no getting around the fact that this is one of the most sexual movies ever. And even the most macho guys have to admit Jake Gylenhall and Heath Ledger go at it with enough gusto to make a straight man wonder if he’s missing out.
“Y Tu Mama Tambien” (2001). Like the aforementioned “Brokeback” this sensual buddy film breaks down sexual barriers. A relationship between two young men is hinted at but the real exploits occur between the young men and a young woman accompanying them on their road trip. After a lot of talk about sex, the three of them finally get down to doing it.
