10 Good Movies Of 2008
2008 was a great year for movies, here are the top 10 good movies from 2008. From musicals to comic book-inspired action movies, there is something for everybody on this list.
“An American Carol.” “An American Carol” Starring Kevin Farley, Kelsey Grammer and Trace Adkins is a parody of “A Christmas Carol.” In this adaptation, a grouchy filmmaker is visited by the three ghosts of Christmas who are determined to show him what Christmas is really about.
“The House Bunny.” Another of the ten good movies from 2008 is “The House Bunny” starring Anna Faris. Shelly (Anna Faris) is a Playboy bunny who is tricked into leaving the Playboy mansion. She finds a home by becoming a house mother for a failing sorority and teaches the girls how to feel good about themselves and even learns a few things about herself along the way.
“Mamma Mia.” Starring Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried, “Mamma Mia” is a musical and very good movie released in 2008. In “Mamma Mia” Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) wants the father she has never met to give her away. The problem is her mother has never told her who her father really is. So she goes on a mission to find the father she has never known.
“The Dark Knight.” “The Dark Knight” with Heath Ledger and Christian Bale is the sequel to “Batman Begins” and is one of the best movies to come out in 2008. As in all the “Batman” movies, Batman battles the villains who try to control Gotham City and in this particular film Batman goes up against The Joker.
“Horton Hears A Who.” “Horton Hears A Who” is a adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ children’s book. Released both in theatres and on DVD in 2008, “Horton Hears A Who” is the story of how an elephant hears a cry for help from a speck of dust and ends up trying his best to protect the tiny community of Whoville, even though everyone thinks he’s crazy because of what he’s doing.
“Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.” The next adventure in the “Chronicles of Narnia” Walt Disney Pictures brings us “Prince Caspian.” By far one of the best movies released 2008, “Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” takes us back to Narnia again. Only this time the kings and queens of Narnia are surprised when the one year they were away turns out to be 1,300 years in Narnia.
“Ste Brothers.” “Step Brothers” brings Will Farrell and John C. Reilly together again in one of the funniest good movies of 2008. “Step Brothers” is the story of two grown men living at home. When their parents decide to get married both men have to deal with each other to please them. After much rivalry, they become friends, but still have a lot of growing up to do throughout the movie.
“The Duchess.” “The Duchess” Yet, another good movie of 2008, stars Keira Knightly in the dramatic tale of a woman who marries the Duke of Devonshire. The Dutchess is beloved by everyone around her, except for her own husband, the Duke. Eventually the lack of love and attention from her husband leads her into an affair.
“Baby Mama.” Certainly a good movie of 2008 is “Baby Mama” starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Kate Holbrook finally decides to she wants a baby after years of putting it on hold for her career. She finds out she cannot conceive and is has to hire a surrogate mother. The surrogate is more than a little different than Kate and she finds herself homeless. Kate takes her in and the two become closer than they ever would have thought.
“Made of Honor.” “Made of Honor” stars Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan and is a good romantic comedy from 2008. “Made of Honor” is the story of how a man is asked by his best friend, who he soon learns that he loves enough to do it, to be the maid of honor at her wedding.
