10 Good Kid Movies
Here is a list of 10 good kid movies that will be sure to entertain the kids and the adults during family night, some of which are our classics growing up as kids. Everyone remembers their favorite movies growing up as a kid and as the generation of kids are growing up they will be sure to remember their favorite movies growing up.
"E.T. the Extra-Terrestria"l (1982) – One of the greatest sci-fi films directed by Steven Spielberg, telling the story of a stranded extraterrestrial (ET) on earth who finds friendship in a boy named Elliot who helps E.T. find his way back home. Loved by both kids and adults this is one of the best kids movies ever made.
"Lion King" (1994) – This is one of the best Disney animated movies about a young lion Simba who’s father King Mufasa is killed by his jealous uncle Scar and is made to believe it was his fault and exiled by Scar. Simba returns home after many years to avenge his father’s death and take his rightful place as the king of the pride. Filled with plenty of emotions this is sure to entertain the kids.
"The Wizard of Oz" (1939) –Based on the novel by L. Frank Baum this classic fantasy film is about 12-year old Dorothy and her dog Toto who end up in the magical Land of Oz after being swept up in a tornado. With the help of Scarecrow, Tin Man and the Cowardly lion she must find the Wizard to return home. This is a good kid movie that can be watched over and over again.
"Toy Story" (1995) –This is the first of the popular Disney animated ‘Toy Story’ trilogy, which tells the story of a rivalry amongst the other toys when Andy receives a new toy for his birthday Buzz Lightyear a spaceman action figure. Conflict arises between Woody a drawstring cowboy, Andy’s old favorite toy and Buzz Lightyear, but soon bond after being thrown out to the outside world. An entertaining and tear jerking kid’s movie for all.
"Shrek" (2001) –The first movie of a series of box office smashes released by Dreamworks Studios about an ogre Shrek, his friends and their adventures. Filled with humor it sends a great message out to kids about loving yourself.
"Finding Nemo" (2003)– Produced by Pixar Animation Studios this is the second best animated movie after Lion King. The movie is centered on Nemo a fish who gets lost in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef and his father Marlin and a cast of underwater sea creature’s quest to find him. A tear-jerking movie sure to be loved by Kids.
"Monsters, Inc" (2001) –Another Pixar Studio masterpiece. What happens when children go to bed and turn of the lights, well the monsters get to work scaring them and bottle up there screams? A little girl named Boo finds out that the monsters are actually more scared of her when she enters there world. A satirical animated comedy to keep the kids laughing.
"Ratatouille" (2007) – Ratatouille is the story of Remy a rat who dreams of becoming a chef and lucks out in Paris with the help and partnership of Linguini who discovers Remy’s talents. A classic beautifully crafted movie adored by both kids and adults.
"Oliver!" (1968) –A timeless classical musical based on the novel ‘Oliver Twist’ by Charles Dickens about an orphan boy Oliver Twist who leaves his orphanage home and ends up with a group of pickpockets based in 18thcentury London. Full of comedy; sing along and emotions this movie will go down as one of the best kid’s movies of all time.
"Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone" (2001) – The Harry Potter series has become one of the best kid’s movie series over the last decade and it all started with The Sorcerer’s Stone based on the books by J.K Rowling. Loved by both kids and adults the movie is full of adventure and tells the story of Harry Potter a young boy who discovers he is a wizard and his adventures at Hogwarts Wizard School.
