The movie is about the war and the restoration afterward, but the heavy, underlying theme is the steamy relationship between Scarlet and Rhett.
"Doctor Zhivago" This is about a married doctor and poet (Omar Sharif) in revolutionary Russia during the early 1900 who falls in love with the wife of a political activist (Julie Christie). This movie is still one of the top ten highest grossing romance movies of all time.
"An Officer and a Gentleman" In this movie, a man (Richard Gere) approaching 30 wants to make some life changes. While training to be an officer, he falls for a young woman played by Debra Winger. He soon becomes confused about life and what he really wants.

The story is read from a notebook several decades after the events take place by an elderly man (James Garner) to an elderly woman. At first, she does not know the man doing the reading, but she comes to recognize him as her lover.
