Since 2008 was such a fantastic year for cinema, finding the 10 best movies that came out in 2008 proved to be quite the daunting task. However, with the help of various movie review websites, we've been able to compile this list of the best movies. So, if you're ready to watch some truly groundbreaking movies, then please take a look as the following list.  

  1. "WALL-E" – We follow a robot by the name on WALL-E as he embarks on an accidental space adventure.  Unbeknownst to WALL-E, he will find himself holding the fate of mankind in his hand, while falling in love all throughout the movie. This is a movie that deserves a place on anyones best movies list.
  2. "Slumdog Millionaire" -  A young Indian boy by the name of Jamal Malik has to struggle with the perils that come with winning millions of dollars. Along the way, he meets his love and has to safeguard his family relationship after winning on the bollywood equivalent of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" The pain he suffers and the realistic love story is why this holds its place on this list.   
  3. "Iron Man" – From his beginnings of incredible wealth, to his capture, to his escape and creation of the Iron Man suit, this movie covers it all. A thrill ride through and through, this is a movie not only for comic book buffs, but also for people who just like action packed movie scenes.  
  4. "Milk" – Milk follows the story of openly gay congressman and activist Harvey Milk. This movie is heartbreaking, but is necessary as it shows the perils that many homosexuals go through in their day to day lives. Sean Penn, the actor who plays Harvey Milk, does a truly incredible job.
  5. "Moon" – This is a movie set in the near future, where it is discovered that the moon contains resources that could ultimately end the earth's energy crisis. With that said, we follow a lone astronaut miner as he attempts to unearth these materials. A cliche idea, but the cinematography and raw depth that director Duncan Jones provides makes it one of the best movies of 2008.  
  6. "Bolt" – Another light-hearted animated film, this movie is very funny. We follow a superstar stunt dog stuck in a world that he doesn't understand, and along the way he has to slowly and painfully discover that he doesn't have any real superpowers. A very fun movie, this top movie is one to take the kids to go see.   
  7. "Forgetting Sarah Marshall"  – This comedic romp starring Jason Segel and Mila Kunis is one of the most hilarious movies of 2008. It follows a man who recently went through break up and takes a long vacation to try to clear his mind. Hilarity ensue, and you'll be laughing all the way through this fantastic best movie.   
  8. "Precious" – A tragic and heartbreaking look at the life of an undereducated and overweight black teenager in 1990s Harlem. She overcomes many obstacles, including sexual abuse at only seventeen years old. Watch as she tackles these issues and become relieved at the  satisfying ending this top movie offers.   
  9. "The Wrestler" – Mickey Rourke is back! Directed by Darren Aronofsky, this movie follows the declining career of wrestler Randy Robinson as he tries to get back on his feet. This top movie of 2008 isn't for the weak of heart, but the ending is so beautiful that it is almost required viewing for wrestling and movie fans alike.  
  10. "Man On Wire" – Watch as performance artist Philippe Petit walks an illegal high-wire between the world trade center buildings. Though illegal, it is very exciting to watch. This best movie of 2008 has a lot to offer for those that love danger and artistic expression.
