10 Best Movies On DVD 2010
There were a lot of great releases to end the decade, and collectors will definitely want to add the 10 Best Movies on DVD in 2010 to their collection. Animated films, 3-D, and CGI effects were very popular in theaters in 2010.
"Toy Story 3". This is a highly popular animated film. It is the third in the "Toy Story" series. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen once again led their voices for the characters Woody and Buzz Lightyear, respectively. In this one, the owner of the toys leaves for college, and the toys must adjust to a new home. Other voices include those of Joan Cusack, Don Rickles, and Estelle Harris.
"Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel". This sequel to "Alvin and the Chipmunks" brings in some new competition for the Chipmunks. The Chipettes is an all-girl group and their manager is out to get revenge on the Chipmunks. After falling for the Chipettes, the boys learn that they are going up against them in a Battle of the Bands.
"How to Train Your Dragon". Yet another animated film makes the list of the ten best movies on DVD 2010. The focus is on young Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III whose mission is to prove his manhood by slaying a dragon. However, the conflict starts when, after injuring the dragon, he realizes he cannot slay it, but in fact, wants to be friends with it.
"2012". CGI effects make this a great action movie about potentially world-ending disasters. Earthquakes and cyclones are the star of the show as ancient prophecies are fulfilled the year 2012. John Cusack and Amanda Peet take top billing. There are appearances and cameos by Woody Harrelson, Danny Glover, and Oliver Platt.
"Avatar". The theatrical release of "Avatar" was in 3-D. It is heavily CGI based, and contains some beautiful scenes. Jake Sully makes a journey to another planet to become like one of the inhabitants. The motive is to get mining rights on the planet for America. The mission becomes less attractive to Sully after he develops feelings for one of the natives.
"Iron Man 2". This 2010 movie is the sequel to "Iron Man." The high-tech inventor from that film, Tony Stark, puts his Iron Man suit back on to do battle with Russian bad guy, Ivan Vanko. Robert Downey, Jr., plays Stark, and Mickey Rourke plays the role Vanko.
"The Twilight Saga: Eclipse". "Eclipse" is the third installment in the "Twilight" series. Vampires, werewolves, and humans mix and match love and revenge in this teen fantasy based on the book by Stephenie Meyer.
"The Blind Side". Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, and Quinton Aaron star in this touching, award-winning story of a teenager trying to get a grip on life after coming from a broken home and foster care. He is finall taken in by Bullock and McGraw, who help him go on to play for the NFL.
"The Princess and the Frog". This is an animated film from Disney Studios. An old children's fable has it that a princess kisses a frog and it turns into a man. However, this frog makes a mistake and kisses a girl who is not a princess. Instead of the frog turning into a prince, the girl turns into a frog. After that, the quest is on to find the solution waiting somewhere in the bayou.
"Alice in Wonderland". There could be no list of ten best movies on DVD 2010 without mentioning Johnny Depp. This is not your parent's "Alice in Wonerdland"; this is director Tim Burton's version. Johnny Depp plays the Mad Hatter. Alice returns to "Underland" and learns that it is being terrorized by an evil queen and her dragon. Alice is told that she is the only one who can save the inhabitants, leading her to some very peculiar characters and situations.
