10 Best Movies For Couples 2010

Thursday, January 20 by Mason Kaho

The list of the 10 best movies for couples in 2010 include some of the year’s best rom-coms and fun movies. Going to the theater remains one of the more popular entertainment options for couples, primarily because it’s inexpensive and usually entertaining. These films might not be winning Oscars, but they are sure to entertain.

  1. “Date Night.”  Fittingly, one of the best movies for couples this year was a movie about a couple out on a date. Tina Fey and Steve Carell attempt to have a nice evening out away from the kids. Things for this normally reserved and quiet couple go very, very awry, resulting in lots of laughs.
  2. “Hot Tub Time Machine.” This movie is mostly just goofy silliness, but that genre plays very well with young audiences these days. One of the best movies for couples this past year, this movie will have dates rolling in the aisles with lots of groans and guffaws. John Cusack, Rob Corddry and Craig Robinson head the great cast.
  3. “Dinner for Schmucks.” This movie, one of the best movies for couples in 2010, has crowd pleasers Steve Carell Paul Rudd, and Zach Galifianakis. The premise is that a bunch of successful men invit the biggest loser they know to dinner. Carell’s character, fit for the role of best loser, steals the show.
  4. “Inception.” This isn’t a comedy, but it was certainly one of the best movies for couples this year. Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page star in this sci-fi thriller where “spies” go deep into people’s psyches—into their dreams, in fact—to steal secret. Visually impressive and tense, this movie is fun to see.
  5. “MacGruber.” Will Forte created this character on the show “Saturday Night Live,” a take-off on the TV character “MacGyver.” Joined by SNL’s Kristen Wiig, Forte takes the bumblin MacGruber through a series of zany situations. The movie is funny in a dumb way, but it’s lighthearted and fun.
  6. “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.” This unique Michael Cera fantasy-action-comedy film was easily one of the 10 best movies for couples this year. The visuals in this film are stunning, as it crosses in between the world of fantasy and reality, and the action sequences are very impressive.
  7. “Killers.” This movie stars two big stars in Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl. They meet somewhat randomly in France and after he asks her out on a date, she finds out that he’s an assassin. She gets caught up in his work and a lot of fun ensues in this comedy.
  8. “Life as We Know It.” Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel star in this comedy with a very funny premise. After a horrible first date between these two, they find that their mutual good friends have died in a car crash, leaving joint custody of their daughter to them. Through their differences they have to raise the child successfully.
  9. “Get Him to the Greek.” This crazy movie stars Russell Brand as a washed-up rocker and Johan Hill, as the low-level record company staffer charged with getting him across the country to Hollywood for a revival concert. As you can imagine, nothing goes right.
  10. “Grown Ups.” Sure, this is a dumb movie, but it’s also pretty funny. Basically an SNL reunion—the cast includes Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, and David Spade—it’s about a bunch on high school buddies getting back together, now married and with kids.
