The 10 best ghosts in movies are not all scary, but they are not all nice either. Ghosts sneak up on us, they say "boo" in the night, they rattle chains and in some movies they are even worse.

  1. To start off the list of the best ghosts in movies there is no better ghost than "Casper, The Friendly Ghost." Casper is the friendliest ghost out there. He was created in 1930 and begin gracing the screen in cartoons in 1945. In 1995 Casper was brought to a new generation in a movie with Christina Ricci.

  2. Another famous ghost  is "Beetlejuice." This crazy ghost, played by Michael Keaton, was raise by calling his name three times. He had a fear of sand worms and he liked to cause trouble for the newly departed.

  3. For one of the scariest ghosts in movies, look no further than Freddy Krueger. In "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and all of it's sequels and remakes, Freddy scares the pants off of teenagers. He was burned to death after molesting or kidnapping the towns children. So, he came back, as a ghost, in the dreams of the children of the people who killed him. He's scarier in the remake, but has lots of great one-liners in the original series.

  4. The most romantic ghost of all was Patrick Swayze as Same Wheat in "Ghost." A man is brutally murdered and he knows who did it, so he comes back to let the love of his life know what happened before she gets sucked in by his murderer.

  5. In 1999's adaptation of "Sleepy Hollow" Christopher Walken made an eerily sadistic Headless Horseman. He's the list of the best ghosts in movies for his scary teeth and wonderful black ghost horse.

  6. Hugh Crane was the ghost who haunted Hill House in "The Haunting." He was a child murderer before becoming a ghost and a very angry ghost upon returning to keep people out of his mansion.

  7. Samara, the eerie little girl ghost in "The Ring" definitely deserves a turn on the list of best ghosts in movies. In an attempt to cause others to suffer as she did this ghostly menace imprinted on a tape and anyone that watched it would die in seven days.

  8. The Black Zodiac from the remake of "13 Ghosts" were very scary. Though there were 13 of them they only get one spot on this list, since they are scarier together. They are The First Born Son, The Torso, The Bound Woman, The Withered Lover, The Torn Prince, The Angry Princess, The Pilgrimess, The Great Child and The Dire Mother, The Hammer, The Jackal, The Juggernaut, and The Broken Heart.

  9. Nearly Headless Nick from the "Harry Potter" movies is probably one of the most popular ghosts of the millennium. This best ghost in a movie is only here because Moaning Myrtle is just annoying!

  10. The ghosts from "The Frighteners," a 1996 film starring Michael J. Fox, finishes off the best ghosts in movies.  Who can forget the military ghosts in the cemetery or the Judge's jaw falling off?
