The 10 best DVD releases from February 2009 are split right down the middle with five being comedies and five being drama based movies. All the DVDs were financially successfully, and one of the best releases from February 2009 grossed over $107 million in sales.   1. "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa". In the sequel to "Madagascar," Alex, Marty, Melman, Gloria, King Julien, Maurice, the penguins and the chimps find themselves marooned on the distant shores of Madagascar. The DVD was released in February 2009, and went on to become the #4 top grossing DVD of 2009. Selling 7.9 million DVDs, the computer animated movie grossed $108 million in sales.
  2. "High school Musical 3: Senior Year".High school seniors Troy (Zac Efron) and Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) face the prospect of separation as they head off to different colleges. One of the best DVD releases of February 2009 because it ranked at #21 on the top selling DVDs of 2009. It sold 3.2 million copies, and grossed $58.8 million in sales.
  3. "Zack and Miri Make a Porno". The DVD for this dark comedy grossed $21.3 million. The movie is about lifelong friends Zack and Miri who enlist the help of their friends to make a porno movie for quick cash. During the first release week of the DVD it grossed $7 million.
  4. "Space Buddies". The DVD was released on February 3, 2009 and grossed $14 million its first week. The Disney movie is about talking puppies that summon their courage to launch plans for a moon landing and a rocketing trip back home. The February 2009 released DVD went on to become the #39 top selling DVD of that year.
  5. "Body of Lies". One of the best DVD releases of February 2009 because it stars two of the biggest actors, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Russell Crowe. "Body of Lies" is about a CIA operative who uncovers a lead on a major terrorist leader suspected to be operating out of Jordan. The DVD was released on February 17, 2009 and grossed $22 million in sales.
  6. "The Secret Life of Bees". The DVD was released on February 3, 2009 and grossed $16.8 million in sales. The movie is based on the New York Times best selling novel and stars Queen Latifah, Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Hudson, and Alicia Keys. It's a tale about 14 year-old girl who escapes an abusive father with her caregiver and in taken in by the intelligent and independent Boatwright sisters.
  7. "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist". Starring Michael Cera and Kat Dennings as two teens who go on an all-night quest to find their favorite band's secret show. The February 2009 released DVD grossed $10.3 million in sales. During its first week released on DVD it ranked seventh in units sold.
  8. "Choke". The dark comedy is about a con-man that regularly fakes choking in upscale restaurants, gets "saved," and collects checks from generous restaurant patrons. One of the best DVDs released in February 2009 because the low budget film was critically acclaimed. The film was directed by actor turned director Clark Gregg.
  9. "Changeling". One of the best DVD releases of February 2009 because it was directed by Oscar winner Clint Eastwood, and stars Oscar winner Angelina Jolie. "Changeling" is about a mother whose son gets kidnapped and when he is returned she suspects the boy who comes back is not her child. The DVD grossed $12.9 million in sales.
  10. "Quarantine". Released onto DVD February 22, 2009 this horror movie follows a television reporter and her cameraman who are are assigned to follow the Los Angeles Fire Station's night shift. Getting called to an apartment building after a deadly strain of rabies breaks out, they get quarantined and fight to survive. The February 2009 released DVD grossed $13.8 million in sales.
