10 Best Advertising Movies

Choosing the 10 best advertising movies was not an easy task. There are several more advertising movies out there than you would think there are. So, below is a compiled list of the ten best movies about advertising.

  1. “Mr. Mom.” This movie, starring Michael Keaton and Teri Garr, is one of the best advertising movies out there. When Jack (Michael Keaton) loses his job, his wife Caroline (Teri Garr) decides she can make ends meet by finding a job. She lands a position as an advertising executive, which leaves her husband to stay home and take care of the house and kids.
  2. “How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days.” “How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days” stars Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey and is definitely one of the best advertising movies. Both men and women can enjoy this romantic comedy about a woman journalist and a man in advertising who, unknowingly pick each other as bets. The two end up finding out on accident that they had used each other. 
  3. “How to Get Ahead in Advertising.” This 1989 comedy is by far one of the best comedies about advertising. In “How to Get Ahead in Advertising” an vicious advertising executive discovers a lot about himself though a humongous talking pimple by his ear.
  4. “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.” Another great comedy about advertising is “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles,” and stars Steve Martin and John Candy. This movie is about an advertising agent and a salesman who meet on a flight as they are trying to get home for Thanksgiving. Due to a snowstorm they are forced to travel by plane, train, and automobile.
  5. “What Women Want.” “What Women Want,” Starring Helen Hunt and Mel Gibson is a funny movie about advertising executive (Mel Gibson) who has an accident and ends up being able to hear what women think.
  6. “Lost in America.” “Lost in America,” is a movie from 2003 about a couple sell everything they own and go on the road to see America. On their journey they get re-married in Las Vegas and then everything goes downhill from there.
  7. “Wayne’s World.” “Wayne’s World,” is a 1993 comedy starring Mike Myers and Dana Carvey. This movie is a hilarious advertising movie. In “Wayne’s World” two guys start up a public access show which in taken on network because of its popularity. Soon Wayne and Garth realize the advertising guy who is in charge of their show wants to change too much, and wants Wayne’s girlfriend as well.
  8. “Boomerang.” “Boomerang,” is a film from 1992 starring Eddie Murphy. In this movie Marcus is an advertising executive and quite the ladies man. Always getting the women he wants, he is turned around when his new boss starts doing it to him.
  9. “Renaissance Man.” “Renaissance Man,” stars Danny DeVito as a man who is fired from his job in advertising and put to work teaching Army recruits thinking skills. “Renaissance Man” is a really one of the best advertising movies.
  10. “Crazy People.” “Crazy People,” is a movie about a man who is put into an institution after getting tired of creating fake ads for people. He decided to create his own ad campaign telling the truth of advertising, and how sex sells, which only landed him in the institution.
