The 5 best war movie trailers did the job a movie trailer is supposed to do: They got the audience excited about the story and the characters. Once you watch the trailers for five of the best war movies ever made, you will find yourself wanting to see the movies more and more.

  1. “The Pianist” The war movie trailer for this great story does little to show the audience of the true emotional struggle and journey of a young musician in the Warsaw ghetto. The World War II setting is the perfect backdrop for the plight of a young Polish-Jewish man. This war movie stars Adrien Brody and was directed by the stunningly brilliant Roman Polanski.
  2. “Downfall” A truly intriguing war movie trailer, this film depicts the story of Adolf Hitler’s final days. The events are told through the memories of Traudl Junge, who was Hitler’s last secretary. While the trailer does a good job setting up the plot, it leaves much to the imagination about how this story truly unfolds. Directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, this war movie came out in 2004 and stars Bruno Ganz as Hitler, and Alexandra Maria Lara as his secretary, Traudl.
  3. “Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War” This war movie is about brothersfighting against one another in the Korean War. The movie trailer is not suitable for viewers under the age of 17, mostly because of the violence depicted in the war scenes. The director of this foreign film, Je-gyu Kang, did an excellent job depicting the emotional outcomes, drama and suspense of this story, all of which are clearly evident in the movie trailer.
  4. “Pan’s Labyrinth” This intriguing and mystical tale is told through the eyes of a young child. Set in fascist Spain in 1944, the stepdaughter of a cruel and vicious army officer escapes into a magical world no one could ever dream of. Directed by Guillermo del Toro, “Pan’s Labyrinth” offers a movie trailer that pulls in audiences of all ages.
  5. “Inglourious Basterds” A 2009 Quentin Tarantino movie, audiences everywhere were excited, delighted, amused and shocked by the movie trailer for this alternate tale of World War II and the band of renegade soldiers determined to kill Nazis and Hitler himself. While the trailer might imply that Brad Pitt is the main character, Melanie Laurent and most especially Christoph Waltz steal the show.
