Sci Fi Action Movies
Sci fi action movies have always been an enormous factor in Hollywood entertainment over the many decades. The science fiction action genre has seen many amazing additions to it, everything from the "Terminator" movies to the "Star Wars" saga. These films have covered a wide range of interesting topics and material within the genre such as time travel, apocalyptic scenarios, futuristic terrorism, alien invasions, and state of the art technology.
The "Terminator" Series. Beginning with "The Terminator" and continuing with "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines," and "Terminator Salvation," the "Terminator" series perhaps make up the greatest sci fi action movies ever made, despite two recent lackluster films.
"Aliens." James Cameron's action-packed follow-up to the terrifying original film is one epic sci fi action movie that is a roller coaster ride in of itself. Ellen Ripley awakens from hyper-sleep only to find herself battling the beasts once again, this time with a platoon of high-tech space marines.
The "Star Trek" Series. Created by Gene Roddenberry, the "Star Trek" series has spanned over eleven movies, including six with the original cast, four with the Next Generation cast, plus a reboot with a younger version of the original cast. The "Star Trek" movies has seen plenty of sci fi action all throughout.
"The Fifth Element." Call it "Die Hard" set in space if you will. "The Fifth Element" stars Bruce Willis who plays a taxi cab driver in the distant future who accidentally gets caught up in a war between good and evil when an alien woman falls into his taxi. "The Fifth Element" is ripe with space-age entertainment and humor, making it one of the best sci fi action movies out there.
The "Star Wars" Saga. George Lucas' epic story spans over six movies which include "The Phantom Menace," "Attack of the Clones," "Revenge of the Sith," "A New Hope," "The Empire Strikes Back," and "Return of the Jedi," the saga not only makes for some of the best sci fi action movies ever, but is among the elite of good vs. evil stories.
"Inception." Director Christopher Nolan, the man who gave new life to Batman, presents to us yet another masterpiece from his own imagination. "Inception" is an enthralling sci fi action movie that explores a future where one's dreams play a huge role in political espionage and crimes altogether.
"Avatar." James Cameron engineers a new breed of epic in "Avatar," one of the biggest sci fi action movies ever made. The story is set in the distant future where Earth's military has set its sights on Pandora, a planet housing valuable materials but a native race and a handful of humans stand in their way.
"Independence Day." Roland Emmerich gives "War of the Worlds" a run for its money with "Independence Day." Packed with dazzling special effects and an all-star studded cast, this blockbuster sci fi action epic in which an alien race invades Earth in city-wide spaceships over the fourth of July weekend.
The "Predator" Series. With three films under its belt, including "Predator," "Predator 2," and "Predators," the "Predator" franchise has made for a very lucrative set of sci fi action movies. The series revolves around various encounters with the Predators, a race of aliens who hunt humans and other beings for sport.
