In the movie a human-looking alien visits earth but then is followed by his giant robot counterpart. The modern version also stars Jennifer Connelly and Kathy Bates.

He later returns and is brother tries to help him come to terms with the ordeal. The movie is based on a true story and the sub-plot between the bothers makes this a good scary alien choice. “Killer Klowns from Outer Space” (1988). What is scarier than alien clowns coming from outer space to terrorize a small town?
