Best Alien Movie Spaceships
With the abundance of popular science fiction films over the years, it is not too difficult to come up with a list of the best alien movie spaceships of all-time. Whether they are spaceships from older black and white movies or modern films with special effects, these aliens flew in style.
Klingon Starship One of the most recognizable alien spaceships in cinematic history, the Klingon Spaceships from the "Star Trek" movies are not only mean looking, but they are heavily armed, can reach warp speed, and have an awesome cloaking device. Too bad the Klingons themselves are such an ugly species.
Alien Mother Ship One of the biggest alien movie blockbusters ever, "Independence Day", had some really cool alien spaceships, though none more so than the seemingly indestructible mother ships that hovered over every major city on earth. Fortunately for earthlings, they were no match for a drunk Randy Quaid.
"Close Encounters of the Third Kind" Mother Ship One of Spielberg's classics, "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" featured some cool UFO's, particularly the mother ship that landed in a landing area created by the army. This 1977 classic remains one of the best alien movies ever.
"The Day the Earth Stood Still" Space Ship While this 1951 blockbuster was a black and white film, "The Day the Earth Stood Still" had one of the first cool alien space ships. While the 1951 film was a success, the 2008 version starring Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly was a clunker.
"ET" Alien Space Ship Another Spielberg classic, "ET" was one of the top grossing movies of its time. Filmed in 1982, the science fiction movie boasted an alien spaceship that was worth phoning home about.
"Skyline" Fighter Ships While the movie "Skyline" stunk, the spaceships didn't. Much like the Klingon Starships, the alien spaceships in "Skyline" were very intimidating and packed a lot of firepower. Too bad the film didn't.
Max from "Flight of the Navigator" The 1986 Disney movie "Flight of the Navigator" is the only movie on the list with an alien spaceship that actually has a name. "Flight of the Navigator" is the latest alien movie to be remade as it is believed to be coming out sometime in 2011.
"Men in Black" Roachship The second movie on this list starring Will Smith (Independence Day being the other), "Men in Black" had an unbelievable spaceship; too bad it was piloted by a cockroach.
"X-Files" UFO" They are out there. Finally, Mulder got too see his UFO, and it was big and intimidating. Too bad the skeptical Scully was knocked unconscious because she missed out on a fabulous alien space craft.
"Cacoon" Rounding out the top ten alien movie space crafts list is the colorful UFO from director Ron Howard's first blockbuster, "Cacoon". Later, there would be a sequel, but it was not nearly as successful or well received as the original.
