I would add the new "The Day The Earth Stood Still" to your list. It was by far the worst remake of a 1950's sci-fi classic that I have seen to date. What a dissappointment...it didn't come close to matching the original one that starred Michael Rennie and Patricia Neal.

The CORE is in your top 8 bad sci-fi films? Well.. OK if you count the last 10 -15 years. Then totally RULE OUT made for Sci-Fi TV..

I actually liked "The Core".. and every time I see a movie like "Journey to the Center of the Earth 1993" staring Tim Russ.. I like it even more!

When it comes to Franchise killers.. Alien Resurrection written by Oscar Winning Writer Joss Wheaton (Oscar win for Toy Story shared with about a dozen other writers - Unions huh?!!) tops the list. All time list going back to the beginning of Sci-Fi's roots.

Joss has this nack of creating an infantile Mall of fashionable infantiles... Then spins his 2 pinkies where the sun doesn't shine. (he's bisexual) and BINGO! A rabid fanbase that would kill for him.

Alien Resurrection killed the entire franchise!

OH.. and before I forget. Alien fans..! YOU have to get this book: Edge of the Earth, by Vincent Ward.
More or less what Alien 3 should have been. The book includes Original artwork for the film they never made. MAN... now that would have been incredible if Fox made that.
