The idea of alien abductions is one that is sure to scare you. So be warned, these movies are so scary that you might start watching the skies.
“Fire in the Sky” (1993). This is by far the scariest alien abduction movie of all time. The movie is based on the November 5, 1975 alien abduction of Travis Walton. In the movie, Walton disappears while working as a logger. The alien abduction scene of him on the spaceship is sure to scare you. The movie stars D.B Sweeney, Robert Patrick, Craig Sheffer and is directed by Robert Lieberman.
“The Fourth Kind” (2009). The movie is in a mock-documentary style which helps to make this a scary alien abduction movie. The plot involves an ongoing mystery in Alaska. The movie stars Milla Jovovich, Elias Koteas, Will Patton and is directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi.
“Communion” (1989). The movie is based off of the best-selling novel by Whitley Strieber, which is a non-fiction book about the author’s alien abduction when he was camping with his family. Strieber also wrote the screenplay. The movie stars Christopher Walken, Lindsay Crouse, Frances Sternhagen and is directed by Philippe Mora.
“Progeny” (1998). Being abducted by aliens is scary enough but being impregnated by them is a whole different level of scary. Although the actual alien abduction scene has all of the cliché probes, the movie is saved by the amazing performances. The film stars Arnold Vosloo, Jillian McWhirter, Brad Dourif and Brian Yuzna.
“Close Encounters of the Third Kind” (1977). Mastermind Steven Spielberg directs this classic alien abduction movie. This is a remake of a low-budget movie that Spielberg had directed when he was sixteen, titled “Firelight.” The movie approached alien abduction from an artsy perspective that no other movie had done. The movie stars Richard Dreyfuss, Francois Truffaut and Teri Garr.
“Altered” (2006). This scary alien abduction movie is very under appreciated. A group of teens get abducted by aliens and one dies before they are returned. The movie picks up fifteen years later when the remaining survivors abduct an alien to seek out their revenge for their dead friend. The movie stars Misty Rosas Paul McCarthy-Boyington, Brad William Henke and is directed by Eduardo Sanchez.
“The X-Files” (1998). This movie is based on the TV series. The film is about two FBI agents who try to uncover the truth about an alien colonization, when one of them gets abducted. The movie stars David Duchovny, Gilian Anderson, John Neville and directed by Rob Bowman.
“The Arrival” (1996). While seeing Charlie Sheen wig out is old news now, you see him wig out with aliens in this movie. Sheen plays Zane Zaminski, a radio astronomer that picks up a radio signal from fourteen light years away. Zane then finds himself caught in a conspiracy. The movie also stars Lindsay Crouse, Richard Schiff and is directed by David Twohy.
“Predators” (2010). This movie picks up where the first “Predator” movie leaves off. A group of aliens abduct some very dangerous humans and dump them on a preserve to be hunted. The movie stars Adrien Brody, Laurence Fishburne, Topher Grace and is directed by Nimrod Antal.
“Independence Day” (1996). This movie has some of the scariest aliens ever and they blow up the White House. While the alien abduction isn’t on camera, it plays a large part of the movie. Russell Casse (Randy Quaid), an alcoholic crop duster, is said to have been abducted by aliens and is thought to be crazy. Russell gets his revenge on the aliens towards the end and that is just not normally seen in alien abduction movies. The film stars Will Smith, Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum and is directed by Roland Emmerich.
