Choosing the ten best sci-fi fantasy movies was not an easy task. There are plenty of sci-fi fantasy movies that will always be loved. Here is the list of sci-fi fantasy movies.
“Star Wars IV," 1977. Luke Skywalker, played by Mark Hamill, goes to defeat David Prowse as Darth Vader who has captured Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia. Luke’s ship is about to be fired upon by Vader but Han Solo defends Luke by firing at Vader. Luke destroys Vader’s Death Star ship but Vader escapes in his ship as he runs from Han’s attack.
“The Day The Earth Stood Still” 1951. A humanoid alien visitor, Klaatu, played by Michael Rennie, comes to Earth with a warning to end violence in this sci-fi movie. Klaatu tells the President's secretary that he has a message that the entire world needs to hear. In the end, Klaatu delivers his message that if Earth brings their violence into outer space they will be destroyed.
“The Terminator” 1984. An artificial intelligent machine from the year 2029 A.D. is trying to destroy mankind. The terminator, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, is assigned to kill Sarah Connor before she gives birth to the man who will lead the resistance destroying the artificial intelligence network's army in this sci-fi film. The only person who can save Sarah is a futuristic friend of the resistance, Kyle Reese.
“Planet Of The Apes” 1968. Astronauts from 1972 A.D. crash-land into 3978 A.D. Astronaut Taylor is the only survivor from his crew and meets human-like apes in this sci-fi fantasy. While imprisoned by the apes, Taylor finds The Forbidden Zone which is when he realizes he is on Earth as he watches New York City self-destruct.
“E.T.” 1982. In this sci-fi film, aliens leave one behind, and he meets a child named Elliott. Elliott and his alien friend E.T. try to find a way for E.T. to contact his family to rescue him while avoiding government agents who want to experiment on E.T.
“Beetlejuice” 1988. Barbara and Adam Maitland, played by Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin, are decorating their new home when they are involved in a fatal car accident. These two spirits are stuck in their new home with new obnoxious owners and the only one they get along with is the daughter Lydia played by Winona Ryder. The couple try to scare away the new homeowners and seek the assistance of another ghost named Beetlejuice.
“The Wizard of Oz” 1939. Dorothy Gale's dog bites townswoman Miss Almira Gulchs so Dorothy runs away with her dog. As Dorothy is making her way home, a twister knocks her unconscious, and she dreams about meeting several different characters who are trying to help her avoid different obstacles in order to get back home. Dorothy awakens to be told that it was all just a dream, but to her it was so real that she promises to never runaway again.
“Men In Black” 1997. Agent Kevin Brown, played by Tommy Lee Jones, and Agent James Darrell Edwards III, played by Will Smith, are investigating a case when they recover a galaxy that has been hiding on Earth Unknown to them, there is an alien on Earth searching for this galaxy to destroy it; it is up to them to save it in order to save Earth. As the two agents destroy the attacking alien, they have to release the galaxy so that it can go back home, and Earth will be safe from harm.
“Superman” 1978. Clark Kent/Superman, played by Christopher Reeve, is sent to Earth as a baby from the planet Krypton. Superman realizes his destiny is protecting humans while not letting anyone know his true identity. Lex Luthor is Superman's arch-nemesis and finds the only thing that can destroy his enemy and give him full reign over his evil plans.
“Spider-Man” 2002. Peter Parker/Spider-Man, played by Tobey Maguire, is a teenager bitten by a genetically engineered spider giving him tremendous strength. As Peter decides if he should use his powers to protect others, he is forced into the life on fighting crime after he loses his beloved uncle to a mugger.
