Latino Movies For Guys

Sunday, March 27 by Jason Cuthbert

If you are looking for Latino movies for guys than get your hands on these five fantastic films. Many men are not in touch with their feelings so they tend to gag at the thought of having to sit through some romantic drama – especially if it has subtitles to read. But even with those generalizations about male taste aside – these Latino movies will have guys interested and entertained.

  1. "City of God" This Brazilian crime story will jab any guy right in the gut with its intensity and emotional strength. The story revolves around two brothers who grow up taking paths in life that are on opposite sides of the law. Known as "Cidade de Deus" in Spanish, this Latino movie portrays poverty with an earnest desire to make you appreciate everything you have – and take nothing for granted.
  2. "The Devil's Backbone" Guys that enjoyed Gullermo del Toro's Latin fantasy movie "Pan's Labyrinth" will be thrilled to know he has a few other-worldly films available for viewing. This time Del Toro plays inside the playground of the horror genre with this tale of a young boy in a haunted orphanage. Del Toro has made mention of the fact that, along with "Hellboy", "The Devil's Backbone" is a very personal project.
  3. "El Mariachi" If you are a guy, you have probably already seen the Mexican action film "Desperado" starring Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek. "El Mariachi" would be the first film in that trilogy about a traveling Mariachi player with deadly instruments in his guitar case.  This is the debut film of the inventive director  Robert Rodriguez, financed by himself with a production budget of approximately $7,000.
  4. "Amores Perros"Alejandro González Iñárritu , the respected Mexican director of "Babel", combines three separate stories that are all connected by a car crash. Gael García Bernal plays Octavio, the man who causes the accident by bolting through a red light. This Latin movie is enough of a thriller to captivate guys who normally bypass drama films.
  5. "Cronos" This often funny Latino horror movie is about a character named Jesus who comes across "cronos", an invention that offers eternal life. Unfortunately there are others that eagerly want this incredible device as well. Guillermo del Toro both wrote and directed this total "guy film".
