Are you looking for some great Nepali movie songs? Here are some of the most popular songs around today. Nepal’s film history is a short one, but the films and songs certainly have their place in the region’s cultural heritage.

The capital city of Kathmandu is Nepal’s film industry center, often referred to as Kallywood or Kaliwood. Most Nepali films feature Bollywood-style narrative and songs. Here are five well-known Nepali movie songs, all current favorites among Nepali movie fans.

  1. “Kohi Mero.” “Kohi Mero” is a romantic song performed by Deepak Limbu and Anju Pant for the 2010 Nepali film of the same name. The romance drama (and song) tells the story of four friends on a search for love and friendship. Jharana Bajracharya, Aryan Sigdel, Sanchita Luitel, and Subash Thapa star in the film.
  2. “Bato Muni Ko Phool.” Nepali music fans describe “Bato Muni Ko Phool” as a heartwarming, soulful, and unforgettable song. It is featured in the 2010 film of the same name, starring Yash Kumar and Rekha Thapa. Yash Kumar is credited for the film’s music.
  3. “Chatyang.” “Chatyang” is the memorable title song for the 1994 film of the same name. The movie stars model and actor Rajesh Hamal, along with leading Nepali actress, Gauri Malla. With a title translated into English as “The Lightning,” the action-packed drama tackles social issues and features a number of other chart-topping songs.
  4. “Chino.” “Chino” is considered an “old” Nepali super-hit film. The title song, composed by Ranjit Gazmer, is one of many successful songs from the movie. A runaway hit in the early 1990s, the film stars Shiva Shrestha, Bhuvan KC, and Sarmila Malla.
  5. “Jeewan Mrityu.” Last on the list is “Jivan Mrityu,” a song from the 2010 Nepali movie of the same name. Nikhil Upreti, Ramit Dhungana, Garima Pant star in the film, while Sagar Gurung performs the title song.
