Not only will this film scare you and your date, in a good way, but it also features an strong female character "Ripley" played by Sigourney Weaver, who has become an icon that every man wants and every woman wants to be.

This movie will make you and your date stay up the whole night, which may not be too bad of an idea, depending on how the date went. Then before you know it, their little girl is kidnapped by the paranormal powers who want to terrorize the family. This John Carpenter classic is about another iconic character, Michael Myers, who returns to his hometown of Illinois to go on a killing spree six years after he was sent to jail for killing his sister. Don't let the William Shatner mask fool you, Michael Myers is a stone cold killer and Jamie Lee Curtis is the only person who can defeat him.

  6. "Joy Ride" (2002). This underrated movie star Paul Walker and Steve Zahn as two brothers traveling cross-country. After installing a CB Radio in their car, they encounter a shady character who goes by the handle "Rusty Nail." And he may just be following them.

  7. "Cloverfield" (2008). This box office sensation has withstood the test of true horror. When an unidentified alien-monster from outer space starts terrorizing New York, it's all about survival and protecting who you care about in that moment. The synopsis may sound like something out of the 1950s, but you can watch this with your date, whether it's in the day or at night and it is guaranteed to terrify both of you.

  8. "Rear Window" (1954). Another classic Alfred Hitchcock film which stars James Stewart, Grace Kelly and Thelma Ritter. An adventurous reporter, who is confined to his apartment in order to recover from a broken leg, spies on his neighbors to pass the time. But after witnessing one of his neighbors starting to act suspiciously, his mind suspects murder. But who will believe him? This film will be a good pick if your date wants both the fright and glamour of classic hollywood.

  9. "Scream Trilogy." This three-part, soon to be four, series is a modern-day classic horror franchise of the 1990s. What seems like brutal, random killings, all center around one character, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and her connections to not only the victims but to the killers as well.

  10. "Shutter Island" (2009). This movie, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and directed by Martin Scoresese, is about a police officer who investigates a patient who has escaped from an asylum built on an island off the coast of New York. But, the asylum seems to be hiding something else.
