Are you ready for the best vampire movies that will scare you, or would you rather play it safe with the “Twilight Saga”? If you have thirst for bloodsucking carnage and would be more horrified by the emotional drama of the undead then their gory lifestyle, then check out these classic scary vampire movies.

  1. “The Lost Boys” Featuring the 80s teenage dynamic duo, Corey Feldman and Corey Haim, and a young Kiefer Sutherland before he was saving the world from nuclear Armageddon, “The Lost Boys” reintroduced the undead to a whole new generation. Unlike the modern day teenage drama, “Twilight,” which focuses on romance with action as a side note, ”The Lost Boys” makes fear a priority while at the same time appealing to high school audience. Packed with horror, action and unrelenting blood sucking, “Lost Boys” is the premier vampire movie of the 80s.

  2. “30 Days of Night” This movie is one of the two films on this list that strips vampires of all their human qualities and leaves them only as bloodthirsty killers. Starring Josh Hartnett, this film is packed with pure action and terror. Based on a comic book and set in an Alaskan town which is enveloped in darkness for a month every year (a perfect feeding ground for the evil undead), “30 Days of Night” will make you afraid of the dark.

  3. “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” This scary vampire flick is the yin to “Interview with a Vampire’s” yang. This film does nothing to humanize the vampiric condition, in fact, it furthers their bestial image. Detailing the origins of the blood thirsty beast and his merciless reign, the film grants him a semblance of humanism in his devotion to his lost love yet does not shy away from his terrorizing existence. Packed with an all star cast of Anthony Hopkins, Gary Oldman, Wynona Rider, Keanu Reeves and even Tom Waits, Francis Ford Copolla, brings Stoker’s tale to life, creating one of the best vampire movies that will scare you.

  4. “Let The Right One In” This is a surprisingly chilling tale of a boy who is bullied, yet finds solace in his new neighbor, a young girl named Eli. As their relationship develops, the young boy discovers a very dark secret about Eli. Based on a book written by John Ajvide Lindquist (who also wrote the screenplay) and filled with relativel unknown actors, “Let The Right One In” is a 2008 Swedish film that has garnered international acclaim based on its merits and not its drawing power. It is a vampire movie that will not only scare you, but also will make you think twice about believing in innocence.

  5. “From Dusk Till Dawn” Another of the best vampire movies, this is the other film on this list that pulls no punches when showing the ruthless nature of those bloodsucking nightwalkers. Two thieves kidnap a family and stumble into a strip club across the Mexican border only to find the law is the least of their worries. Directed by Robert Rodriguez, written by Quentin Tarantino and starring George Clooney, Harvey Keitel, Juliette Lewis, Salma Hayek and Quentin Tarantino, “From Dusk Till Dawn” shows why all these artists have received international success.
