5 Best Horror Thriller Movies 2010
The 5 best horror thriller movies of 2010 will leave some people on the edge of their seat. Others may turn away and cringe if they don't enjoy "hard to watch" scenes. Each of these five films gave horror and thriller movie fans heart-pounding excitement, as well as new elements of gore that had yet to be seen.
"Frozen" (2010). Many movie-goers remember what it was like when they first saw "Jaws", and how it made them fearful to go in the water. Horror writer and director Adam Green's movie "Frozen" will make you think twice about ever wanting to go on the ski slopes again. This 2010 horror thriller movie tells the chilling tale of three snowboarders who become stranded on a resort's chairlift. The ski resort closes down for the week and the trio has no choice but to try and get down to the ground and go for help themselves. The three endure frostbite and hypothermia and must try to stay alive not only in the frigid elements but from the mountain's wild animals too. "Frozen" stars Shawn Ashmore, Emma Bell and Kevin Zegers.
"Case 39" (USA 2010). This horror and thriller movie of 2010 stars Renee Zellweger as social worker Emily Jenkins. She attempts to help a ten year-old girl Lily, who she fears is being abused by her own parents. When Emily sees the abuse first hand, she reaches out for help from local police detective Mike Barron (played by Ian McShane). Emily takes the girl in until she can find a suitable foster home for her. She also thinks that Lily should seek help from a psychiatrist (played by Bradley Cooper), but this seems to create more horrific problems than Emily could have ever imagined.
"devil" (2010). M. Night Shyamalan strikes again with this 2010 thriller and horror movie. The story centers around five office workers who become trapped in an elevator as they're trying to leave their office building for the day. When the elevator gets stuck between floors and the lights begin to flicker in and out, little do they know that there is a demonic beast among them. One of these five people is not who they seem. The rest will soon find out, the devil does exist, and he will torture them all until they face their darkest secrets.
"George A. Romero's Survival of the Dead" (USA 2010). The father of all zombies brought this latest undead adventure to U.S. theaters in May 2010. The story takes place on Plum Island, which is just off the coast of North America. Locals are once again fighting off a plague of zombies. While residents continue to die off and then return from the dead, two of the island's primary families divide and turn on one another. One family insists that regardless of whom the undead are, they must be taken out. The other family feels they need to keep their undead loved ones safe from harm until a cure is found to bring them back to life.
"Saw 3D" (2010). Also known as "Saw VII," this horror thriller movie of 2010 delves deeper into the psyche of Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), as well as his surviving victims. Cary Elwes (Saw I) returns in this latest "Saw" chapter, meeting up with other Jigsaw survivors. They tell their sorted stories to a self-help counselor (played by Sean Patrick Flanery) in the hopes they can overcome their terrifying experiences. Little do they know that the help they are about to receive will only bring a new meaning to horrific terror.
