10 Funny Scary Movies
The top 10 funny scary movies are parodies of scary classics, or scary movies that are also funny in their own right. You may recognize some of the movies and you may not know some of the others. But you should be sure to check out all of the top ten funny scary movies of all time.
"Beetlejuice" (1988) - Ghosts, monsters and demonic possession may sound scary, but "Beetlejuice" (1988) is strong member of the top ten funny scary movies list. Michael Keaton does some of his best work in this movie.
"Re-Animator" (1985) - This movie shows up on many lists, including the top ten funny scary movies of all time list. The actors play their parts so seriously, but the comedy is so obvious, that it makes this movie a classic.
"The Human Centipede (First Sequence)" (2009) - The creators of this movie have done several tongue-in-cheek interviews about its origin and premise. It is hard to ignore the comedy in the whole idea, and the movie itself is a disturbing mix of humor and grotesque mutilation.
"Hot Fuzz" (2007) - "Hot Fuzz" (2007) comes from the same guys that wrote and produced "Shaun of the Dead" (2004). "Hot Fuzz" (2007) starts out harmlessly enough, but it earns its spot on the top ten funny scary movies of all time list when it introduces some ritual sacrifice and gore at the end.
"Zombieland" (2009) - "Zombieland" (2009) is on its way to becoming a cult classic that will last for generations. The mix of shock zombie scenes and hilarious comedy make this a very entertaining movie.
"An American Werewolf in London" (1981) - The mood throughout the first half of this film is a strange mixture of scary scenes surrounded by comedy. But as it moves towards a conclusion, it gets considerably more scary.
"Mr. and Mrs. Smith" (2005) - It is difficult to explain why this movie walks the line between funny and scary. There are a lot of shock scenes in the movie that are based on people sneaking around, and the concept of a husband and wife destroying their own home as they try to kill each other is pretty scary too. The comedy is all throughout the movie, and it is some very funny stuff.
"Hatchet II" (2010) - This movie went largely unnoticed by much of the viewing public, but it is definitely one of the top ten funny scary movies of all time. It mixes together parody and the slasher movies of the 1980's with some very good performances by much of the cast. This one is worth seeing.
"Gremlins 2: The New Batch" (1990) - There are parts of "Gremlins 2: The New Batch" that are downright terrifying. The gremlin spider is a pretty horrific scene, and so are a least three or four scenes of certain death for the humans. But, as with the first "Gremlins" (1988) movie, there is that comedy thrown in there as well.
"Dogma" (1999). Once you catch on to what "Dogma" (1999) is about, you get wrapped up into the scary parts of the plot and the movie becomes a bizarre mix jokes and horror. When you see this movie be sure to see the unedited version. The toilet monster is pretty scary as well.
