Fairy Tale Movies For Guys

Friday, April 8 by Sydney Tyler

Believe it or not, there exist several great fairy tale movies for guys. Appropriate for men and women both, these are just well done, period. If you haven't seen these, watch them by yourself, with your girlfriend, or with guys—everybody will live happily ever after.

  1. "Shrek" This animated fairy tale movie stars a stinky green ogre who lives in a swamp. He just wants to be left alone. What guy can't relate somewhat to that? Guys appreciate loads of satirical gags about every fairy tale you've ever known. Shrek falls in love with an enchanted princess with a secret. Shrek's voice sounds just like Mike Myers . His sidekick donkey sounds a lot like Eddie Murphy.
  2. "The Princess Bride" If sword-fights, pirates, sea monsters, giants, poison, death, and magic grab you, get this one. Of course, you get more than that. Laughs and adventure don't stop through this epic love story set in lands far away and long ago. Fairy tale themes include love and revenge. Stars Carey Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, Robin Wright, Peter Falk, and Billy Crystal to name a few.
  3. "Big Fish" This most unique fairy tale movie for guys shows a son coming to terms with the life and death of his father by revisiting the magical myths the father wove about his life as a traveling salesman. The whole thing becomes ambiguous, and you have to suspend your disbelief while watching. What's the real scoop on the witch, giant, siamese twins, and fairy tale characters in the dad's tall tales?
  4. "Splash" Fate plays a part in this magical love story. "Splash" tells of a man who unwittingly falls in love with a mermaid. He must save her from evil government scientists. Then they each must decide in which world they will live. This fairy tale movie for guys stars Tom Hanks and long tall drink of water, Daryll Hannah.
