The 10 beach teen movies are all different in their own era. Each decade had its own version of beach movies. “Beach Blanket Bingo" – This movie debuted in 1965. It is the fifth film in a beach party film series. The movie stars Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. It is one of the best beach teen movies ever made. In the 1983 film" The Outsiders,” “Beach Blanket Bingo" was playing at a drive-in.
“Bikini Beach" – This 1964 movie was directed by William Asher. It stars Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. It is the third film in the series of seven beach party movies. School is finally done for the summer as the teens head out to the beach.
“Gidget" – This 1959 movie stars Sandra Dee, Cliff Robertson and James Darren. It is based on the 1957 novel" Gidget, The Little Girl with Big Ideas” by Frederick Kohner. The movie is about Gidget's initiation into the California surfing world and her love for a young surfer.
“Point break" – This beach teen movie was released in 1991 and stars Keanu Reeves, Patrick Swayze and Gary Busey. The title of the movie comes from the surfing term meaning an obstruction which causes a wave to break such as a rock or coral reef. Keanu, Patrick and Lori Petty trained with Pro surfer Dennis Jarvis for the film.
“Beach Party" – This 1963 film is the first in the line of beach party movies by American International Pictures. The movie stars Robert Cummings, Dorothy Malone, Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. You will notice that all the beach party films just include teenagers and no parental supervision.
“The Blue Lagoon" – This beach teen movie was released in 1980 and is an American romance and adventure film. It is based on the novel" The Blue Lagoon" by Henry De Vere Stacpoole. The movie stars Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins and tells the story of two teenagers stranded on an island.
“Where the Boys Are" – This 1960 movie is based on the novel by Glendon Swarthout. The movie stars Connie Francis, Dolores Hart and George Hamilton. The movie is based on college co-eds who are on Spring Break in Fort, Lauderdale Florida.
“Hardbodies" – This 1984 sex comedy tells the tale of three middle-aged men who hire a much younger man to teach them how to pick up girls at the beach. The movie is directed by Mark Griffith. It stars Grant Cramer, Courtney Gains and Gary Wood.
“Private Resort" – This beach teen movie is from 1985. It stars Robert Morrow, Johnny Depp and Andrew Dice Clay. It is the third movie in a series of comic teen sex romps. It takes place at a posh Miami resort.
“Paradise" – This 1982 romance and adventure film is a lot like the movie “The Blue Lagoon." The movie is about two young people who are stranded in paradise with no adult supervision. The movie stars Phoebe Cates and Willie Ames.
