The top 10 romance movies are actually spread across several different genres. Many films from different genres can have a strong focus on romance, and this is especially true with comedies and dramas. All of these movies do a good job showcasing the human relationship process showing how we fall in love, and sometimes fall out of love.

  1. “The Shop around the Corner” This is one of the truly classic romance movies, and it’s a comedy. The film is about two pen pals that meet without realizing it.

  2. “Titanic” This is one of the only romance movies that’s also a disaster film. It’s about true love in the middle of a catastrophe.

  3. “Casablanca” This is a Hollywood classic and it’s hard to even put it into a genre. At the center of the story is a romance that is being rekindled after a long absence.

  4. “When Harry Met Sally” Some would argue that this is the greatest romantic comedy ever. We don’t agree entirely, but it is definitely an amazing film. It tells the story of a man and a woman who met many years previously, and how they slowly fall in love with each other.

  5. “Equinox Flower” A wonderful Japanese film that takes a very different approach than other romance movies. It’s more about the process of love and marriage than the emotions involved. It also deals a lot with societal rules and other elements of romance.

  6. “It Happened One Night” Director Frank Capra made quite a few romance movies, but this is his most effective. It’s about the daughter of a rich man who leaves home and falls in love with a reporter.

  7. “Pretty In Pink” This is probably the best romance movie that came out of the 80’s teen film boom. It stars Molly Ringwald, and it’s kind of a classic Cinderella scenario.

  8. “Ghost” This is a film about love, romance, and dealing with the loss of a loved one. It handles all these themes in the guise of an entertaining afterlife fantasy.

  9. “All That Heaven Allows” This is one of the best romance movies ever about forbidden love. It’s about an older widow who falls for a much younger guy.

  10. “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” This is one of the strangest romance movies you’ll ever see. It’s a science fiction film and it tells the story of two lovers who get their minds wiped of all memories after breaking up. Eventually they meet up and don’t recognize each other.
