Fast Times At Ridgemont High Cast

The “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” cast includes a number of actors who went on to achieve great success in both Hollywood and on television. Both man cast members and smaller bit players went on to win Oscars and Emmys and proved that thi high school movie was a breeding ground for young talent.

  1. Sean PennSean Penn was one of the main stars of the “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” cast as Jeff Spicoli, a stoner slacker who provides one of his teachers with all eh headaches he can throughout his senior year. Penn went on to win two Academy Awards for his later work.
  2. Judge Reinhold – Judge Reinhold is the other major star in the “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” cast. He is Brad, a popular student who wants to break up with his girlfriend so he can date around. However, he gets fired from his job and is humiliated as his life spirals out of control.
  3. Jennifer Jason Leigh – Jennifer Jason Leigh stars as Brad’s fifteen-year old sister, Stacy. Stacey loses her virginity to a 26-year old and ends up pregnant. Leigh has built a career starting in independent films as well as various mainstream releases such as “Single White Female” and “Road to Perdition.”
  4. Phoebe Cates – Phoebe Cates became incredibly popular after her appearance as part of the “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” cast. Her appearance in the daydream by Brad where he imagines her stripping down and seducing him remains a highlight in the film. She went on to appear in “Gremlins” and “Drop Dead Fred.”
  5. Vincent Schiavelli – Vincent Schiavelli stars as Mr. Vargas, the biology teacher with the habit of grossing out his entire class. Schiavelli has made a career out of playing strange, eccentric characters in films like “One Flew Over the Cockoo’s Nest” and “Ghost.”
  6. Forest WhitakerForest Whitaker played the star football player in the “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” cast. His big scene came when Spicoli stole his car and wrecked it, before blaming it on the rival school. Whitaker won an Oscar for his role in the biopic “The Last King of Scotland.”
  7. Anthony Edwards – Anthony Edwards cameos in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” his first mainstream movie appearance. Edwards went on to achieve huge popularity after co-starring as Goose in “Top Gun” and Gilbert in “Revenge of the Nerds.” He later played a large role in television’s “ER.”
  8. Eric Stolz – Eric Stolz shared the same cameo that Anthony Edwards enjoyed in the movie. It was the start to a career that included roles in “Pulp Fiction” and “The Butterfly Effect.” In some interesting trivia, he was originally supposed to play Marty McFly in “Back to the Future” but was replaced by Michael J. Fox.
  9. Ray Walston – Ray Watson portrays the strict teacher Mr. Hand, the direct nemesis for Jeff Spicoli in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High.” The two continuously butt heads throughout the movie until Mr. Hand gets his revenge at the end. Watson is best known for his lead role on the television series “My Favorite Martian.”
  10. Nicolas Cage – While it is a very small role, Nic Cage appeared in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” as a friend of Brad. Cage, who went by the name Nicolas Coppola has since gone on to star in numerous films, winning an Oscar for his role in “Leaving Las Vegas.”
