When Christopher Nolan was filling up his “Inception” cast, he brought in some of the most talented actors working today. Some of the names were not widely known at the time of their casting, but all the performers are at the top of their game, many award winning and others with awards to be won in the future.
The star of the “Inception” cast is Leonard DiCaprio, playing Dom Cobb, a thief who steals secrets by breaking into people’s minds. DiCaprio has been nominated for three Oscars, for “Blood Diamond,” “The Aviator” and “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape.”
While many people still look at Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the kid from “3rd Rock From the Sun.” However, this member of the “Inception” cast proved his acting talents in indie movies like “Brick” and “(500) Days of Summer.” He plays Arthur, the researcher for the team in “Inception.”
Ellen Page plays a grad student in the “Inception” cast recruited to build the dreamscapes. The Canadian born Ellen Page became a superstar following her lead role in the indie film “Juno,” which earned her an Oscar nomination.
In the “Inception” cast, Tom Hardy stars as Eames, someone with the ability to take the form of other people within dreamscapes. Hardy earned an Oscar nomination for his role in “The Town” but his best performance was as Charlie Bronson in the British crime film, “Bronson.”
The businessman who hires Cobb and his team in the “Inception” cast is played by Ken Watanabe. Watanabe is also well known for playing the fake Ra’s Al Ghul in Christopher Nolan’s “Batman Begins.” He earned an Oscar nomination for “The Last Samurai.”
In the “Inception” cast, Dileep Rao stars as Yusuf, the member of Cobb’s team who formulates the drugs leading into the dreamscapes. Rao has also appeared in James Cameron’s “Avatar” and Sam Raimi’s “Drag Me to Hell.”
British actor Cillian Murphy stars in the “Inception” cast as Robert Fischer, the heir to a fortune that Cobb’s team is hired to break into the memory of. Murphy also starred in Nolan’s “Batman Begins” and had his breakout role in the horror film, “28 Days Later.”
Tom Berenger made a surprise return to the big screen as part of the “Inception” cast as the godfather of Robert Fischer. Berenger has been in a number of popular movies in his career including “Major League” and “Sniper.”
Marion Cotillard plays Mal in the “Inception” cast. She is Cobb’s wife who is dead and routinely shows up while he is in a dreamscape as a malevolent being screwing things up. Cotillard won an Oscar for her role in the French film, “La Vie en Rose.”
Michael Caine stars in the “Inception” cast as Professor Miles, Cobb’s father-in-law and mentor. Caine has starred in many Christopher Nolan movies including “Batman Begins” and its sequel and “The Prestige.” He has won two Oscars in his career.
