The “Across the Universe” soundtrack song list is a list of songs that were featured in the 2007 film directed by Julie Taymor and staring Evan Rachel Wood, Jim Sturgess, Joe Anderson and T.V. Carpio. The film follows characters Jude and Lucy who through a series of events fall in love to the tunes of The Beatles. The film’s soundtrack features 33 original songs by The Beatles sung by members of the cast.

  1. “I Want To Hold Your Hand.” One of the first songs in the movie, this is also one of the best songs on the “Across the Universe” soundtrack. This famous tune is sung by a female cheerleader character who is in love with a fellow cheerleader. The unexpected twist and sweet sentiment make it one of the best songs in the film.
  2. “It Won’t Be Long.” Sung when the lead character of Lucy receives a letter from her boyfriend who is serving in the Vietnam War. The tender use of this song makes it one of the best in the “Across the Universe” soundtrack.
  3. “I’ve Just Seen a Face.” The male lead character of Jude sings this song after he visits a friend’s home over Thanksgiving and falls in love with Lucy.
  4. “Let It Be.” One of the most famous songs in The Beatles’ catalogue, this is also one of the best songs on the “Across the Universe” soundtrack.
  5. “Come Together.” The lead character of Jude sings this song when he and a friend move into a tiny bohemian neighborhood in New York City. The song is sung by Jude and his artist friends that he begins to make a new life with.
  6. “If I Fell.” When the female lead character’s boyfriend is killed in Vietnam, she follows friends of hers that moved out to New York. There she officially meets Jude and the two fall in love over this sweet tune. The use of it to facilitate the falling in love of Lucy and Jude makes it one of the best songs on the “Across the Universe” soundtrack.
  7. “Dear Prudence.” After a girl that Prudence is in love with starts a relationship with someone else, Prudence becomes depressed and disappears during a large rally. Her friends reach out to her with this number which is one of the best songs on the “Across the Universe” soundtrack.
  8. “I Am The Walrus.” This silly tune is sung by most of the lead characters after accidentally ingesting punch that had been laced with drugs. They begin to hallucinate while outside.
  9. “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” Lucy and Jud break up after a fight in this emotional song about love and loss. The song is one of the best in the “Across the Universe” soundtrack.
  10. “Blackbird.” This song is sung by the lead character of Lucy after the social group that she is working with has a tragic explosion killing most of the people she works with. Not only one of the most famous Beatles songs, “Blackbird” is also one of the best songs on the “Across the Universe” soundtrack.
