The Ethiopian history is free of “colonial times.” Ethiopians are very proud of their history and that pride comes from their struggle NOT to be colonized by Europeans. The Italians tried twice and lost twice: first in their defeat at the Battle of Adowa (1896) and second time after their five years OCCUPATION that ended in 1935.

Ethiopia has no “colonial times”. The brief Italian occupation in 1936-1941 is similar to that of France’s occupation by Germany. In fact in the case of Ethiopia most of the territory was under the control of the patriots.
